Millennials and Gen Z are once again fighting over an ‘outdated’ practice that the older generation is embracing – and who will emerge victorious is yet to be decided.
American mum Liz June recently revealed her shock and horror after being told that carrying a purse is now considered old-fashioned.
“Millennials – there’s a new way we can age ourselves and that’s by having a wallet,” she said in a video.
‘Apparently Gen Z use their phone as their wallet, so they have everything on there – their cards, their ID. Is this a thing? Did I miss the memo?’
FEMAIL investigated the claim with similar results – that wallets are now ‘bulky dead weight’, with many preferring to keep a portable charger handy instead.

Gen Z women typically just keep their essentials in their shoulder bags—they choose lip products and headphones over bank cards or their driver’s license.
Thousands were appalled by the new trend and explained why they could never switch to the laid-back approach.
“Call me old school, but what happens when your battery dies?” asked one.
‘There are shops where I live that don’t accept Apple Pay – so how can they pay for things?’ wondered another.
A few revealed that they needed their wallets to store extras like coffee hole cards and movie club membership cards.
While some carry phone cases that double as wallets, the accessory turns out to do more harm than good.
“My husband got that idea and then lost his phone and literally everything all at once,” shared one.
“The phone case wallet ages us more than a regular wallet – but they can pry it from my cold dead hands,” said another.

More millennials revealed that they don’t actually use wallets.
‘I’m 27 and have never used a purse, I just don’t like it. I keep my debit card loose in my pocket and rarely take out my ID unless I know I’ll need it, said one man.
“I’m 33, I haven’t had a purse since 2012,” admitted one woman.
A few Gen Zers shared their thoughts on the matter.
One man said: ‘I’ve never had a wallet before. I actually have no idea where any of my physical cards are (do they still send them?). Apple Pay all day.’
‘When I set up a bank account (the teller) made me add my card to my phone so I could use it before it was sent. I also have my tickets for festivals, movies, arcades on my phone,’ wrote another.
“Do all millennials just sit around and think about what Gen Z thinks about things they like?” asked one.
