Fans are hoping to see Miley Cyrus on tour after the release of her latest album Endless summer vacation should not pin their hopes.
During an interview for British VogueIn the Grammy-nominated singer’s latest cover story, she said she’s not sure she sees herself touring again, at least not in the foreseeable future.
“It’s been a minute,” she said. “After the last (headline arena) show I did (in 2014), I saw it more as a question. And I can’t. Not just ‘can’t’, because not being able to is your ability, but my desire. Do I want to live my life for the pleasure or fulfillment of someone other than my own?” … leaving the answer to that question up in the air.
Earlier in the interview, the ‘Flowers’ singer explained that she would rather perform for her close friends and loved ones than for an entire arena. “As if singing in front of hundreds of thousands of people isn’t really what I love,” she said. ‘There’s no connection. There is no security.”
She added, “It’s not natural either. It’s so isolating, because when you’re in front of 100,000 people, you’re alone.
For now, Cyrus said she’s focused on the present and her life is now all about her own happiness.
The 2014 Bangerz tour was Cyrus’ last extensive headlining tour, with shows in North America, Europe, Latin America, New Zealand and Australia. Since then, she has only done smaller tours, such as the 2015 Milky Milky Milk Tour, which included only eight performances, and the 2022 Attention Tour, which included only five shows, mostly at music festivals.
Her most recent studio album, Endless summer vacationwas released in March and the previously released lead single “Flowers” became the singer’s first chart-topper in nearly a decade.
