With the scores on the same level on his way to halftime, Tierney was eliminated after clearly getting hit in a challenge with James Milner.
However, the Scotland flying international, in a more positive indication for Arsenal, was able to walk through the tunnel on his own.
“He felt something in his knee and he was in pain,” Arteta admitted during his post-game press conference. “He’s going to be injured, but we don’t know how long.”

Luiz, meanwhile, suffered from his own knee problem during the international break – and Arteta has insisted that the club does not rule out possible treatment options.
“There are a few possibilities,” Arteta added. ‘We are in talks with the doctors to make the right decision. Looks like he could be off for a few weeks.
“It depends on the decision we make.”
It is unclear whether Tierney can play against Slavia Prague in the quarterfinals of Arsenal on Thursday.

However, Luiz will certainly be absent, and depending on his recovery, his campaign could even end prematurely.
Arsenal could slide further into midfield obscurity this weekend, with Aston Villa taking them to ninth place.
Their quest for European football was thwarted by the champions – who drove home after Diogo Jota’s brace and a further effort by Mohamed Salah.
