- Tyson faces Jake Paul at AT&T Stadium in Dallas, Texas this Friday night
- There is a 31-year age difference between Tyson, 58, and social media sensation Paul.
- The pair took to the ring for an open workout Tuesday night and Tyson shined.
Mike Tyson came out with everything and this was just public work.
The last thing a great boxer loses is his punch and the slap of the leather on the pads was as thunderous as before.
But the most notable thing was the speed of the hands in the combinations. If Iron Mike has declined in that department at age 58, then it’s imperceptible.
He even impressed himself, telling a crowd of several thousand at the Toyota Motor factory that the first day he returned to the gym after signing the contract to fight YouTuber Jake Paul at the Dallas Cowboys stadium on Friday night: “I thought what the hell, what have I done?
He then added: “I’ve gotten through the process and I feel great right now.”
Mike Tyson looked fierce during open training ahead of his fight with Jake Paul on Friday.
By the end of his workout, the 58-year-old had taken off his shirt to reveal his impressive body.
He took off his shirt to reveal a body as muscular as in his world champion prime. So when reminded that his entire family will be in the ring for the fight forever, he said, “My kids will see that their father is someone very special.”
“They will also learn not to respond to me.”
The same lesson can also be taught to an opponent who is young enough to be his son if Tyson connects with this type of power he demonstrated here.
With that, Iron Mike left the auditorium prematurely before Paul arrived to follow in his footsteps.
“Go drink your Horlicks and go to bed early,” said one know-it-all. “Whatever it takes, brother.”
Tyson’s punches on the pads were a reminder to fans that he still possesses incredible punching power.
The former two-time world champion showed off his infamous left hook as he fiercely pushed his trainer into a corner of the ring.
There were times when Tyson was so focused on showing off his pace and power that he performed combinations his trainer wasn’t expecting.
Jake Paul showed off a strange new haircut that resembles a chicken during his open workout
Tyson regularly supported his trainer against the ropes and his combinations impressed his fans.
However, fans, both in the arena and online, were left in awe of the once undisputed heavyweight champion.
One excited fan wrote: ‘Mike Tyson still has it! Jake Paul better be ready for a REAL fight!’
The clip of Tyson’s training has even caused some social media users to suggest that Paul, the 27-year-old social media star, will not make it out of the first round.
‘If Tyson can unleash one of those legendary punches right off the bat, Mike Tyson could finish it before Paul’s Instagram live stream loads. 30 seconds or less,” one account wrote.
While another said: “He’ll back Jake up and uncork that famous punch combo and I want to see how Jake reacts.”
Meanwhile, Paul takes a more relaxed approach to his training, taking to the arena with a strange hairstyle that resembles a chicken.
While the YouTuber-turned-boxer joked, he also showed off the plethora of combinations he plans to use on Friday night.
The highly anticipated fight, which was originally scheduled for July, will be fought at AT&T Stadium in Texas on Friday night and will stream on Netflix.
