Mike Richards has been fired as executive producer of Jeopardy! just a week after he stepped down as host of the quiz show after a storm of controversy.

Deadline reports that Sony Pictures Television informed staff in a memo on Tuesday, revealing that he has also been fired from Wheel Of Fortune as an executive producer.

EVP Suzanne Prete emailed the following: “I’m writing to let you know that Mike will no longer serve as a Wheel and Jeopardy EP! immediately effective.’

“That’s what we hoped for when Mike stepped down as host at Jeopardy! it would have minimized the disruption and internal issues we’ve all been experiencing over the past few weeks. Obviously that didn’t happen.’

Embassy Row’s Michael Davies has agreed to intervene on an interim basis.

The cancellation comes after a huge backlash from fans of the show, many of whom would have liked favorite LeVar Burton to take the reins.

Richards was also forced to tackle recently resurfaced sexual harassment and discrimination lawsuits from his time at The Price Is Right.
