Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has called teachers union head Randi Weingarten the “most dangerous” person in the world, even elevating her above the notorious dictators she fought while in office.
The potential presidential candidate and former CIA director made the comment in an interview referring to North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un, who has continued to rock world capitals with his ballistic missile tests, and China’s chief, who seeks to supplant the United States as the world’s preeminent power.
‘I tell the story often, they ask me ‘Who is the most dangerous person in the world? Is it Chairman Kim, is it Xi Jinping?’ The most dangerous person in the world is Randi Weingarten,’ Pompeo told Semafor in an interview Monday, singling out the leader of the powerful American Federation of Teachers.
‘It’s not a close decision. If you ask, ‘Who is most likely to bring down this republic?’ It would be the teachers unions, and the crap they are teaching our kids, and the fact that they don’t know math, or reading, or writing,” he said.
‘Who is the most dangerous person in the world?’ Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said AFT chief Randi Weingarten earned that distinction. He said he called out the teachers unions for the “filth they’re teaching our kids and the fact that they can’t do math or read or write,” in an explosion on Critical Race Theory.
He made the comment in an interview after calling “making sure we don’t teach our kids rubbish in schools” one of the country’s top priorities. It comes days after former President Donald Trump announced that he would seek to reclaim the White House.
Pompeo made no mention of covid school closures, which have angered many parents in 2020 and beyond, instead focusing his comments on the New York Times 1619 Project and critical race theory.
“If our children don’t grow up understanding that America is an exceptional nation, we’re done for,” said Pompeo, a former House member who joined the Trump administration.
‘If you think it’s an oppressor class and an oppressed class, if you think about the 1619 Project, and we’re founded on a racist idea, if those are the things that people got into seventh grade deeply rooted in their understanding of America, it’s It is difficult to understand how Xi Jinping’s claim that the United States is in decline will not prove true,” he said.

Weingarten hit back in a searing tweet thread
He mentioned the state’s own assessment of China, which mentions genocide and crimes against humanity against the Uyghur minority.
Pompeo met with the Taliban’s political affairs chief, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, in Doha, Qatar, on September 12, 2020 in the final months of the Trump administration to help negotiate the withdrawal of US forces.
His comments came after an appearance on the Republican Jewish Coalition where he said “the personality and the celebrity are just not going to make it,” in a line that seemed directed at former President Trump.
But he denied breaking up with his former boss.
But I have not moved. Tell me where the turn is. he said.
‘I am contemplating introducing myself as the potential president of the United States to the citizens of America. There is no turn. The things that worked, we must continue to do. But I also believe that times are different. Right?’ he said.
Weingarten responded to Pompeo in a tweet thread.
“I know Mike Pompeo is running for president and frankly I don’t know whether to qualify his characterization of me in the @daveweigel interview as ridiculous or dangerous,” she said, referencing the article by Dave Weigel and Shelby Talcott.
“At the State Department, Pompeo defended Middle Eastern tyrants and undermined Ukraine. He was more focused on pleasing Trump than fighting freedom, national security, and democracy. Comparing ourselves to China means he shouldn’t know what his own department says,” he continued.
Mike, let me make it easy for you. We fight for freedom, democracy and an economy that works for everyone. We fight for what children and communities need. Strong public schools that are safe and welcoming, where children learn to think and work with others. That is the American dream!
