There are many iconic scenes from Mike Meyers’ films and especially Wayne’s World, but one stands out above all.

The Saturday Night Live alum, 60, revealed he stepped away from his own life and his ‘punk rock era’ for the scene in which Wayne Campbell and Dana Carvey, 69, Garth Algar rock out in a car with Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen.

That scene could have been very different if the writers’ or studio’s visions had been used instead of Meyers’ desire to use the Queen song.

Bonnie and Terry Turner wrote the script and in that scene they wanted to use Whole Lotta Love by Led Zeppelin.

Meanwhile, the studio had a completely different idea when they wanted to use a song by the then new band Guns n Roses.

Bohemian Rhapsody ended up being chosen for its “strange operatic quality,” Myers said. Vulturewho has just presented him with the Master’s in Culture award.

“Everyone was assigned a Galileo. That was the most important thing, and we had fights if you took my Galileo.”

In the scene, Wayne, Garth and their friends sitting in the back seat of the car cruising the streets of Aurora, Illinois, begin headbanging in sync with the guitar riff at the end of the song.

Wayne’s World began as a sketch on SNL before becoming a hit movie in 1992.

The film’s synopsis, provided by IMDb, reads: ‘Wayne still lives at home. He has a world-class collection of name tags from jobs he’s tried, but he has his own public access television show.

‘A local station decides to hire him and his partner, Garth, to do their show professionally and Wayne and Garth discover that it is no longer the same.

“Wayne falls in love with a bassist and uses his and Garth’s video contacts to help her career, knowing that Ben Oliver, the sleazy advertising man who is ruining her show, will probably take her away if they fail.”

The film also starred Rob Lowe, Tia Carrere, Lara Flynn-Boyle and the late Chris Farley and Meatloaf.

Meyers is also known for his role as Austin in 1997’s Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery, 1999’s Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me, and 2002’s Austin Powers in Goldmember.

The Canadian comedian has won seven MTV Awards, a Primetime Emmy Award, and a Screen Actors Guild Award.

In 2002, he received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

He played both the titular comic parody of suave spy James Bond and his archenemy Dr. Evil in all three films.

Over the years, he has spoken positively but evasive about the possibility of a fourth Austin Powers movie.
