Microsoft has created a series of Xbox Series X console wraps that are designed to be a more affordable option over buying a separate limited edition console. One of the first Xbox console wraps will be one for star fieldthat will release on october 18priced at $49.99.
Console wraps aren’t stickers like you’d find on Dbrand; instead, they fasten to an Xbox Series X thanks to a Velcro hook-and-loop closure. The plastic star field the wrapper includes panels that look similar to the limited edition star fieldBrand name Xbox controller. “Key internal components of the console are highlighted through the outlined access panel and game-inspired graphics.” explains Monique ChatterjeeSenior Director of Design at Xbox.
The graphics that are printed on the outside of the Starfield wrap are tactile, with a smooth white finish on the rest and an internal fabric that sticks to the Xbox Series X. Microsoft will also be selling two camo patterns starting November 10 . priced at $44.99 each. There’s a gray option or a “mineral” blue version, matching the existing Arctic and Mineral Camo controllers.
This is the first time that Microsoft has offered custom wraps for an Xbox console after the Xbox manufacturer allowed Xbox 360 console owners to remove the faceplate and customize their consoles. In recent years, Microsoft has focused on custom-designed Xbox One and Xbox Series S/X consoles, but these new wraps mean you don’t have to buy a limited-edition console to get an official custom look.
These wraps are Microsoft’s answer to the removable side panels available on Sony’s PS5. Sony has also started selling custom skins for existing PS5 owners along with a special Spiderman-brand console.
