Microsoft Teams has a new feature that allows users to access important information of a meeting after it ends. The recap feature will begin rolling out in late January and is expected to be available to all Teams users by mid-February.
With the new addition, Teams users can access meeting recordings, instant messages, notes and transcripts from the Meeting tab. The feature is expected to be extremely useful for individuals who may not have been able to attend a meeting, as well as those who were present but would like to access the relevant information at a later date.
After the coronavirus pandemic, digital tools such as Microsoft Teams are increasingly used to keep employees in touch and collaborate while face-to-face meetings are not possible. However, logistical challenges remain and not everyone can attend every meeting, even remotely. The new recap feature should make it easier to ensure that employees don’t miss important discussions.
A presentation platform
Microsoft has recently launched a number of new features for its Teams platform. In addition to summary functionality, a history menu will be launched in February that will make it easier for users to navigate to previously visited locations, and improved search functionality should make finding specific content easier.
Teams have had to compete with other popular collaboration tools, including Zoom and Google Meet, all of which have seen their popularity soar over the past 12 months.
However, teams can have an advantage if it leverages the popularity of Microsoft’s other office solutions. The company recently announced that a new Presenter View for Teams would make it possible to better record Microsoft PowerPoint presentations.
