Microsoft told Xbox fans not to expect fully CGI footage of first-party games at the upcoming event.
“None of the first-party games at the event will be fully CG renderings,” Xbox Chief Marketing Officer Aaron Greenberg said in a tweet (below). “Everything will be either in-game footage, in-engine footage, or in-game footage combined.” The cutscenes. Each show will be rated, so hopefully it’s clear to our fans.”
Fans have criticized both Microsoft and Sony for their events that had little gameplay, like last month’s PlayStation Showcase event that featured mostly CG footage across its many reveal shows.
Greenberg revealed that the Xbox Games Showcase and Starfield Direct events will last approximately two hours, and will only include video games. added: “I can confirm that there will be no movie or series screenings at our gaming event.”
Greenberg said too Microsoft will not only commit to games that will be released within 12 months of their effectiveness. This is in contrast to the approach it took with last year’s event where Microsoft said all games on display would be playable within 12 months. It has not been able to live up to this promise with several games, most notably Hollow Knight: Silksong.
Xbox Games Showcase kicks off June 11th at 8pm KSA, followed directly by Starfield Direct.
