The teacher, who was not named, was hospitalized, although it is unclear what injuries she suffered in the attack.
She was released from the hospital on Thursday and is expected to return to work next week.
The school’s superintendent, Kevelin Jones, sent a letter to parents informing them that an altercation occurred this week between “two scholars” that left the staff member injured.
It is unclear whether the student has been arrested or is facing charges.
On Thursday, Flint Community School posted a letter to them Facebook page reassuring parents that they ‘take these matters seriously’ and that they will ‘continue to do everything we can to create and maintain a safe and nurturing environment’.
The letter stated that the district has launched an investigation into the incident, but did not indicate whether the student had been suspended or expelled.
“We understand that these types of incidents can be concerning and we want to reassure you that we are actively working to ensure the safety and well-being of everyone at Southwestern Classical Academy.
