A Michigan student has died after being found with a traumatic brain injury on the side of the road after a party as footage reportedly shows her being thrown from a car.
The family of Mia Kanu, 23, are desperate for answers after their loved one was left for dead outside the Coach Apartments in Southfield, Michigan on June 3.
“Something happened, and someone knows something, and we just want those answers,” said Bianca Vanmeter, Kanu’s mother. FOX 2 Detroit.
When Kanu was discovered, she had “serious injuries”, police told local media.
According to police, video from the night of the incident showed Kanu falling or being pushed out of a vehicle. She died in hospital on June 5.

Kanu’s family are now in desperate need of answers after their loved one was left for dead outside the Coach Apartments (pictured) in Southfield, Michigan on June 3.
According to Vanmeter, Kanu — a senior from Tennessee State University — was home for the summer. Her mother said she was studying to be a veterinarian.
The grieving mother described her daughter as a good person and said it was inconceivable anyone could do this to her baby girl.
“She would never leave a person. It makes no sense,’ Vanmeter said of the video and the people in the car who left her daughter for dead.
The footage that police referenced in the case has not been released as of June 15.
After Kanu was ejected from the vehicle, no call was initially made to 911.
It wasn’t until a passerby noticed her and called for help that she was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
Authorities said the driver of the vehicle from which Kanu was ejected was cooperating with their investigation, which has not yet released the cause of his death.
“We are considering all possibilities, including homicide,” police said. “The police department has not released any information alleging Mia was pushed out of the vehicle.”
Southfield Deputy Police Chief Jeff Jagielski said the matter is still under investigation.
“We understand there was an argument between the driver and another person in the parking lot of the apartment complex they were leaving,” he said.

FOX 2 reported that charges are expected to be filed against others who were in the car when Kanu was ejected.
“Whenever we have the untimely death of an otherwise healthy individual, we investigate a homicide until proven otherwise,” Jagielski continued.
“I want to know what really happened and if they were with friends why wouldn’t they call 911?” Vanmeter told ABC 7.
Kanu was initially put on life support after being taken to hospital, but was taken off last week.
His family said his organs were donated to others in need.
In a heartbreaking video posted to Facebook, Vanmeter showed Mia’s “march of honor” at a local hospital as doctors and nurses took her to surgery to remove her organs for donation.
Dozens of friends, family and hospital staff lined the halls as Mia made her way to the operating room as gospel music played loudly.
The college senior had a Hello Kitty blanket draped over her in her hospital bed, along with a Tennessee state banner and a sign that read, “I am the storm.”
The woman filming, allegedly Vanmeter, could be heard sobbing throughout the video before it ended with someone off-camera saying “goodbye, baby.”

A GoFundMe was set up for the family of the young woman.
As of June 15, the fundraiser has raised $32,000 of its $50,000 goal.
Hundreds of loved ones and strangers have contributed to the fund in hopes of bringing comfort to the grieving family in times of need.
‘I never knew you…but you’re my kind of young lady. I have a daughter around your age. You make me proud. Your love of the innocent in our crazy world is the reason God had you here,’ one person who donated wrote.
“My heart goes out to the woman’s beautiful family. I’m so sorry for your loss. May his memory be a blessing,” another contributor shared.
