A Michigan man won the lottery and didn’t even know it after he forgot the winning ticket he bought a month earlier and left it stuffed in his wallet.
Yandiel Cruz-Chavez from Wyoming, Michigan bought a Fantasy 5 lottery ticket in May and forgot about his $1 purchase.
The lottery game draw takes place daily and saw Cruz-Chavez scoop the $200,000 jackpot after matching five numbers in the May 30 contest.
“I bought a Fantasy 5 ticket and forgot I had it in my wallet until a week after the draw,” Cruz-Chavez told lottery officials.

“I checked the ticket at the store and got a message to file a claim, so I looked up the winning numbers online. When I realized I had won the jackpot, I was at first in disbelief,” he said.
Cruz-Chavez matched all five winning numbers of 08-20-29-33-39 securing the jackpot of $199,407.
“Once I realized that I really had won, I was overwhelmed with excitement and called all of my family members to tell them the good news!” said Cruz-Chavez.
“The award came at the perfect time and is a huge blessing to me and my family,” he said, noting how he will use the money to pay for home improvements while saving the rest.
The winning ticket was sold at Big Top Market in Wyoming, near Grand Rapids.
