Michelle Obama is launching a podcast that will debut this month that will feature interviews with her family members and big names like nighttime host Conan O’Brien and top White House Obama advisor Valerie Jarrett.
The former First Lady will lead the ‘Michelle Obama Podcast’ with Higher Ground, her production company founded with the husband of former President Barack Obama.
The new podcast focuses on meaningful relationships and features guests such as her mother Marian Robinson, her brother Craig Robinson, journalist Michele Norris and Dr. Sharon Malone, who is married to former Attorney General Eric Holder who served in the Obama administration.
The special series was announced on Thursday in partnership with Spotify and will debut on July 29.

“The series, hosted by Michelle Obama, will bring listeners the most candid and personal conversations of the former First Lady, showing us what is possible if we make ourselves vulnerable, open up and focus on what matters most,” announced the two companies. in a press release.
Obama said in a statement that she is hopeful that the series “can be a place to explore meaningful topics together and search through so many of the questions we are all trying to answer in our own lives.”
But most of all, I hope this podcast will help listeners start new conversations – and hard conversations – with the people who matter most. That way we can build more understanding and empathy for each other, “she added.

Since leaving the White House in 2017, Obama has pursued several projects, including writing and selling her best-selling memoir Becoming.
Before release, she launched a whirlwind book tour where she was interviewed by friends Oprah and Sarah Jessica Parker and released a documentary under the same name.
This is the first podcast to emerge from a deal between Higher Ground and Spotify, which signed with the music streaming company last year.
“We believe audiences around the world will be inspired by these most candid, most human and most personal conversations between First Lady Michelle Obama and her guests,” said Spotify Chief Content Officer Dawn Ostroff in a statement The Wrap.
