Michelle Obama becomes insensitive & # 39; labeled for comparing Trump with a & # 39; divorced father & # 39; and America with a & # 39; broken family & # 39; while meeting the president on her book tour in London

  • Michelle Obama appeared in London on the final phase of her book visit Becoming
  • She made unusual comments on the Trump election
  • Obama compared Trump's election to caring for a & # 39; divorced father & # 39;
  • & # 39; Sometimes you spend the weekend with divorced dads. That feels nice, but then you get sick. That is what America is going through & joked the ex FLOTUS
  • The jibes were greeted with anger by single father & # 39; s online, dubbing the words & # 39; insensitive and offensive & # 39; – many took Twitter to criticize the former first lady

Michelle Obama faces a backlash after comparing Trump's election with America under the care of a & # 39; divorced father & # 39 ;.

The former first lady used the clumsy metaphor to describe Trump's unexpected electoral attraction during the final phase of her whistleblower tour in London on Tuesday.

The unusually sharp remarks, which attempted to explain America's decision to elect the controversial Republican president in 2016, were greeted with anger as many argued against the stereotype of divorced fathers who are poor parents.

Obama, who famously once proclaimed “if they go low, we're going high”, joked Stephen Colbert, the host of the evening that – like choosing to live with a divorced father – the choice to choose Trump initially seemed attractive, but soon sour.

She said: & # 39; We [America] come from a broken family, we are a bit restless. Sometimes you spend the weekend with divorced dads. That feels nice, but then you get sick. That is what America is going through. We live with a divorced father. & # 39;

Obama, whose memoir has sold more than 10 million copies five months ago since its release, is usually reserved in her commentary on twice divorced Trump, making her ironic remarks all the more remarkable.

Divorced fathers seriously insulted the comments and ended up on Twitter at FLOTUS.

& # 39; Criticizing divorced parents or single fathers is really a bad thing & # 39 ;, said one of the parents on Twitter.

Another said: & # 39; I am a divorced father who loves his children and is a bit of a good parent as a divorced mother. I generally do not like Trump and I liked you, but you have shown that you can say just as rude and insensitive comment as Trump. & # 39;

James Wilkinson said: & # 39; As a divorced father who gives everything all weekend, I have to ask … come again? & # 39;

Jason Catena added: & # 39; As a divorced father, I do my best to raise my son to a kind of man that we can all be proud of. Your comments do not help people to see that I am conscientious and competent [enough] to do a good job. & # 39;
