The upcoming live-action adaptation of the hit video game franchise Home Sweet Home Rebirth has found its key role.
Michele Morrone (365 days, Submission), William Moseley (The Chronicles of Narnia story, The Royal family), Thai-Norwegian actress and model Urassaya Sperbund (Brother of the Year, Hurry and feel love), and K-Pop/K-Drama star Alexander Lee (Moorin School: Saga of the Brave, My Korean Jagiya) have joined the feature, which is now in production in Bangkok, Thailand.
Filmmaking duo Alexander Kiesl and Steffen Hacker direct the project, with footage sourced from their German visual effects house Unexpected in collaboration with YGG, the Thai VFX/animation/gaming company. Producers are Dean Altit, under his banner Altit Media Group, and Pakin Maliwan, under Thailand-based Film Frame Productions. Tanat Juwiwat and Saroot Tubloy of YGG and Kia Jam are executive producers.
Home Sweet Home Rebirth follows Jake (Moseley), a cop who enters an alternate realm called “The Hindrance” during a deadly mall shooting. With the help of a mysterious Novice Monk (Lee), Jake must race against time to save his wife Prang (Yaya) and prevent an evil occultist, Mek (Morrone), from opening the Gates of Hell. The film is based on the survival thriller video game of the same name, which has sold over 1 million copies worldwide and become a breakout hit on YouTube and Twitch, with streamers racking up over 370 million gameplay views on both platforms.
“Since we first introduced the original game in 2017, we have continued to grow and evolve, continually bringing our gamers the most exciting and engaging stories,” said Tanat Juwiwat, CEO of YYG. “We are happy to expand the program East West home is best universe and brand, and introduce the game to a global audience with this feature film.”
Morrone is represented by CAA, Ascend Artist Representation and Gang, Tire, Ramer, Brown & Passman; Moseley of CAM, IAG, Untitled Entertainment and Ginsburg Daniels Kallis; Sperbund from Luber Roklin Entertainment and Gang, Tyre, Ramer, Brown & Passman, and Lee (UKISS) from Tango Music Korea.
