Michael Jordan’s latest deep sea fishing adventure didn’t go as well as he expected.

Jordan reportedly entered his newest boat, a yacht named ‘Catch 23,’ in the 66th Annual Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament in Morehead City, North Carolina, according to TMZ.

He hoped to keep a portion of the prize pool, which amounted to $7.5 million in cash.

Unfortunately, Jordan’s team, consisting of seven anglers and a captain, failed to place and therefore took home no money over the weekend. The basketball legend was not competing in the tournament.

The largest fish caught over the weekend was caught by a boat called Game Time that towed a 516-pounder.

In comparison, Catch 23 only brought in a cumulative total of 400 pounds of fish all weekend.

The boat Jordan’s team competed on was a new $15 million boat with an 82-foot wingspan.

For comparison, that’s less than 1 percent of Jordan’s reported $3.6 billion net worth.

Jordan recently acquired the boat, which carried the Catch 23 name similar to others he previously competed on.

In 2020, Jordan’s boat placed second to last in the same tournament, despite landing a 442.3-pound fish.

The boat has had success in other tournaments, such as the white marlin division of the 32nd annual Mid-Atlantic Fishing Tournament in August 2023.
