Plans to leave a bronze statue of the Australian rock star at the Corner Hotel on Stewart Street, Richmond were discussed by the city council for the Melbourne suburb to the east.

But other members of the Hutchence family opposed the statue because Michael had little contact with Melbourne, so the project was postponed before the council started community consultation on the plans.
