Michael Chandler has vowed to KO Brazilian opponent Charles Oliveira in their UFC 262 showdown for the vacant lightweight title.
The American predicts a stoppage in the first round in Houston on Saturday, an outcome that would effectively guarantee a fight with Conor McGregor’s winner against Dustin Poirier.
Oliveira possesses a masterful ground game, but gives up a significant power advantage to Chandler, who promises to take advantage of his natural strength.

Chandler plans to put pressure on his Brazilian opponent from the start
“He is going to have his clock cleaned,” said the 35-year-old MMA fights.
“I walk into a packed bullring in Houston, Texas, where 19,000 red, white, and blue-blooded Americans recite my name and root for me.
‘I’m going out and I’m immediately in the face of Charles Oliveira and he will realize and feel it from the first exchange, of the pressure I put on him, he will immediately start guessing second.
Chandler continued, “He will immediately overreact. He will immediately start to worry about his legs. I go to his head. I’m going to his legs.
‘I’m going to his body. I’m going to mix it up. There is a bang, he is going to have his clock cleaned.

Chandler, a former Bellator champion, got off to a stunning start in the UFC with a first round KO of Dan Hooker in January.
While Oliveira underscored his title credentials with a hugely impressive win over Tony Ferguson late last year to extend his unbeaten streak to eight fights.
