Mica Miller’s family has reached a settlement with her ex-husband, South Carolina pastor John-Paul “JP” Miller, three months after his death. “Today John Paul Miller, Solid Rock Church, Inc., and The Estate of Mica Francis Miller, along with the individual members of the Francis family, have reached a full and final settlement agreement,” reads a statement from the pastor’s attorney, Russell B. Long, to the Daily Mail. CBS affiliate.
As part of the agreement, the terms of which remain confidential, all “issues and potential issues … are resolved or waived and released.” “Mica’s family, Pastor Miller, and the Church have put aside their differences to allow Mica’s memory to live on,” Long wrote. “All parties now consider this matter to be ‘closed.’”
“Sadly, we don’t know all the details of Mica’s death. We know that her life had a purpose,” the attorney added. “Those who have spent every Sunday morning protesting outside Solid Rock Church, chanting ‘justice for Mica,’ should recognize this moment of healing and move on with their lives. We only ask that they remember Mica as the wonderful, beautiful soul that she was.”
In statements obtained by local media The Post and Courier, and News from the sunRegina Ward, a lawyer representing Mica’s family, said: “We don’t want the Francis family or anyone else to be dragged into litigation for years.”
“I know some of you will be disappointed,” Ward added. “We want to put this behind us and move on to the next chapter that matters. When we say we have obtained justice for Mica as a result of this settlement, we mean it.”
Authorities Mica saidwhose body was found in Lumber River State Park in North Carolina on April 27, committed suicide. Her death sparked an online debate and prompted the Robeson County Sheriff’s Department to counter “conspiracy theories” about her death. The medical examiner confirmed the cause of her death was suicide.
Earlier this month, John-Paul addressed the death of his wife and speculation surrounding their relationship in a interview on Banfield Tonight on NewsNation, saying, “It seems like people don’t care to hear the truth.”
During the interviewHe denied allegations that he followed his late wife, slashed her tires and posted a topless photo of her, despite appearing to apologize for such actions in a letter. At the time of her death, Mica and John-Paul were in the process of divorcing, according to ABC30The RCSO also confirmed in a statement that they were separated and estranged.
Weeks before his death, Mica posted a video on Facebook about abuse, offering advice to those in abusive relationships.
