A Mexican accused of raping his 15-year-old daughter was caught trying to illegally enter the United States.

Rusbel Zamorano-Calderón, 39, was captured by border patrol agents trying to cross the border in Ysleta, about 15 miles south of El Paso, Texas, on Tuesday.

The agents had been in a routine patrol when they found footprints east of the Ysleta Port of Entry, said the US Customs and Border Protection Service.

Zamorano-Calderón was among the group of people who tried to cross the border illegally and were detained, the agency said.

The agents quickly discovered that he had been previously deported from the United States.

They also learned that she had a pending warrant for three counts of rape against her own 15-year-old daughter in Tennessee.

A restraining order is in place to protect the daughter, the agents also found.

Zamorano-Calderón must be sent to the custody of the El Paso County Sheriff's Office pending extradition to the Polk County Sheriff's Office in Tennessee to face three counts of rape, the agency said.
