Mets option Tylor Megill to Triple-A Syracuse: report

Following Saturday’s 9-6 loss to the Astros, the Mets are sending starting pitcher Tylor Megill to Triple-A Syracuse, according to Anthony DiComo of MLB.com.

According to DiComo, the move allows the Mets to fill Megill’s shoes with a reliever, something they sorely need as the team continues to navigate a short-handed bullpen. Edwin Diaz returns from suspension.

The Mets can also remember christian scott either Jose Butto to detect the start of Megill on his next turn in the rotation.

Megill allowed four earned runs, five hits and three walks in 5.1 innings pitched in Saturday’s loss to the Astros.

“I thought Megill was fine,” Mets manager said carlos mendoza he said after the game. “He showed flashes, the fastball had a good life. (He) threw some good splits. … They have good hitters, they put together good at-bats. “We couldn’t eliminate them today.”

In eight starts this season, Megill is 2-4 with a 5.08 ERA and 1.44 WHIP.
