Mets keep MLB playoff dreams alive with vital win over Shohei Ohtani and the Dodgers

This postseason, the New York Mets have been on the brink of elimination exactly twice. The first time, it was Pete Alonso’s bat that hit a three-run home run to give them a National League Wild Card victory over the Milwaukee Brewers.

As fate would have it, it would be Alonso’s three-run homer again that propelled the New York Mets to a 12-6 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers to stay alive in the National League Championship Series, which now it changes. Back to the west coast.

The Dodgers have come so far with their pitching and it was their pitching that let them down early in the game, with starter Jack Flaherty allowing eight runs in three innings.

Try as they might, Mookie Betts and Shohei Ohtani’s bats remained consistent while Andy Pages had the game of his life, hitting two home runs.

But the Mets’ bats were simply too hot: They finished with 14 hits in 34 at-bats to force a Game 6 in Chavez Ravine.

THIS IS A DEVELOPING STORY. MORE TO FOLLOW.
