A worker on Western Australia’s Metronet rail project has died after being run over by a car.
Paramedics and police were called to Halliday Park in Bayswater, Perth, shortly after midday following reports that a man had been hit by a vehicle.
The subcontractor was working on the Bayswater train station site, which is only weeks away from completion.

The workers often relax in the park during their breaks and it is understood the man was lying down when he was hit by the car.
A blue Tesla was removed from the scene of the accident.
“We are aware of a tragic incident that occurred close to the New Bayswater Station Project involving one of our team,” a Metronet spokesman said.
“The matter is currently under investigation by WA Police, but Metronet can confirm that the incident did not take place on the New Bayswater Station Project site.”
Western Australian police are investigating the case.
WA’s Construction, Forestry and Maritime Employees Union state secretary Mick Buchan sent his condolences to the man’s family, who he perceived as foreign.
“We want to make sure the family is taken care of,” he said.
