Meta is launching a charging dock for its new Quest 3 headset. For $129.99, the all-in-one charging station lets you seamlessly mount and charge the Quest 3 headset and controllers when you’re not immersed in VR.
This charging station is the first of its kind in Meta. While the company offered a charging dock for the Quest Pro 2, it was wired and didn’t provide a way to charge both the headset and controllers on a single platform (mainly because the controllers use AA batteries). This new dock is more similar to the Anker two-in-one station Made for Quest 2. Allows you to charge the headphones using the contact pads on the bottom of the Quest 3.
The controllers are a little more complicated, as they will probably continue to use AA batteries as a power source. But this time, the charging dock includes rechargeable lithium-ion batteries for the Quest 3 controllers, allowing you to replace the AA ones that come with the controllers out of the box. Without the dock, you’ll have to charge the Quest 3 headset using the included 18W power adapter and cable and also continually change the batteries in the controllers.
Plus, the charging station is compatible with some of the other accessories Meta is launching today, including the $69.99 Quest 3 Elite strap that gives you more methods to adjust the earbuds for a more comfortable fit. There’s also a $129.99 Elite strap with battery pack that should allow for an additional two hours of VR playback.
Other new accessories announced by Meta include the $49.99 Quest 3 facial interface and head strap pack. The facial interface fits inside the device and is supposed to be easier to clean after a workout, while the head strap should provide additional support. There’s also the $69.99 Quest 3 Carrying Case, as well as the $39.99 Quest Active Straps for Touch Plus controllers that are supposed to provide extra grip and stability.
