Months before Apple releases its Vision Pro headset in early 2024, Meta (formerly known as Facebook) is debuting their new Meta quest 3 virtual reality (VR) headset on October 10.
Announced during the company presentation MetaConnect event, the device – is now available for pre-order at Best BuyAmazon and other online retailers, the Meta quest 3 comes with a VR headset, two Touch Plus controllers and a free digital copy of the action VR role-playing game (RPG) Asgard’s Wrath 2, which normally retails for $60. It features Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon each eye) inside the headset offers stunning visuals. According to the brand, the new headset’s speakers are also 40 percent louder and offer 3D audio that’s clear and rich with booming bass.
In addition, the newly designed Touch Plus controllers provide even more precise navigation and tracking and better haptic feedback compared to the previous model, resulting in immersive and authentic sensations during experiences. (The new controllers also no longer have rings.) The Quest 3 also offers a controller-free experience with the Direct Touch feature that tracks your hand gestures, while the headset’s slimmer design is more comfortable to wear, according to Meta.
Normally priced at $500, the Meta quest 3 comes in a 128GB model and offers a mixed-reality experience that combines virtual images with your real-world environment. For additional storage space, the Meta Quest 3 comes in a 512GB model for $650. It has the same features as the headset mentioned above, but also comes with a six-month bonus MetaQuest+ subscription – worth $48 ($8/month).

The service includes two curated VR titles per month (12 in total) that can range from gaming, entertainment, wellness, fitness, social and more. Meanwhile, you can choose from over 500 experiential apps in the Meta Quest library, including YouTube, Netflix, and Amazon’s Prime Video, among others.
NBCUniversal even struck a deal with Meta to bring Peacock to the Meta Quest line of VR headsets. This includes everything the streaming service has to offer, such as Sunday night football, The office, Poker face, Yellowstone, To take, The Continental: from the world of John Wick, Astroid city, Quick and much much more. There are even horror films and TV shows from Jordan Peele’s Blumhouse Productions and Monkeypaw Productions – just in time for Halloween.
Meta acquired Oculus, the original maker of the Quest VR headset, in 2014.
