Metal giant Metallica looks to be heading to Australia in 2025.
Concert promoter Live Nation took to Instagram this week to all but confirm the return of the Master of Puppets hitmakers by sharing a simple posed image of the band.
Sharing a link to a Metallica waitlist, the account added: “Sign up to be the first to know.”
One fan further confirmed the impending tour, sharing a quote from an email they received from Metallica camp on Reddit.
“North America is not our only stop in 2025, as we will be returning to Australia and New Zealand this year after too much time away,” the email said.
‘Stay tuned for the full announcement coming VERY soon.’
Metallica, frequent visitors to our shores, have been venturing to Australia since 1998.
However, the 2025 tour would be the band’s first in Australia in 12 years; their last visit was in 2013.

The band was then scheduled to play six shows in Australia in 2019, however that tour was cancelled after frontman James Hetfield entered rehab for addiction.
On Instagram, guitarist Kirk Hammett, drummer Lars Ulrich and bassist Robert Trujillo posted a heartbreaking statement about their “brother” band announcing the cancellation of the Worldwired tour with Slipknot.
“We are very sorry to inform our fans and friends that we must postpone our upcoming tour of Australia and New Zealand,” the statement began.

‘As many of you probably know, our brother James (Hetfield) has been battling addiction on and off for many years. Now, he has sadly had to re-enter a treatment program to work on his recovery again.’
It’s not clear what “addiction” James is being treated for, but he previously went to rehab in July 2001 to treat an alcohol problem, according to NME.
The singer quit drinking in 2002 and abstained from alcohol, cigarettes and all other forms of drugs.
In 2016, the married father of three told podcaster Joe Rogan That the idea of losing his family scared him more than anything on his path to sobriety.

Fan reaction to the upcoming 2025 tour has been mixed, with many saying they were reluctant to commit to buying tickets after the 2019 cancellation.
“Yeah, no thanks,” wrote one disgruntled metalhead. “They lost me after the 2019 disaster.”
Another fan was more concerned about James Hetfield’s mental health, adding: “I guess some people don’t seem to be aware or care about Hetfield’s mental health, which was the reason behind the cancellation,” they wrote.
