WNBA star Angel Reese and golf icon Nelly Korda were among the athletes who hit the red carpet at Monday night’s Met Gala.
Celebrities from around the world of music, television, film and sports descended on New York for the annual fundraising gala in Manhattan.
The theme of this year’s Met Gala is ‘Sleeping Beauties: Fashion Awakening’ and the event coincided with Reese’s 22nd birthday.
“I’m excited to see everyone’s outfits, they all look amazing,” she said. “I’ve always dreamed of this moment, so to be here on my 22nd birthday is incredible.

Reese stepped out with rapper Cardi B during the star-studded party in Manhattan on Monday.

Meanwhile, Korda, a 13-time winner on the LPGA Tour, was invited by Casey Wasserman, head of sports marketing and talent management giant Wasserman.
Korda, 25, wore a red and green floral dress made by Oscar de la Renta. It was her first time at the event in New York.

Korda hopes to record her sixth consecutive LPGA Tour victory this week at the Cognizant Founders Cup in Clifton, New Jersey.
The Florida native is currently the number one female golfer in the world. She will look to win a second Olympic gold at this summer’s Games in Paris.
Reese was recently selected seventh overall by the Sky in the 2024 WNBA draft, following a brilliant collegiate career that began at Maryland and ended at LSU.
Former NBA star turned TV host Dwyane Wade also attended the Met Gala, as did Brooklyn Nets player Ben Simmons, who wore an interesting outfit that drew scorn from many fans.
Simmons donned a jacket and coat with plaid designs on top, accented with rings, a watch, and a briefcase that had a huge watch.

Reese was recently selected seventh overall by the Sky in the 2024 WNBA draft.
Sports fans raved about Simmons for his style choice, especially after the Nets star only played in 15 games this NBA season.
He missed the first 38 games of the season, then played until early March before being ruled out for the rest of the season with a pinched nerve in his lower back.
Social media took notice of the watch briefcase in particular, with many mocking Simmons for wasting too much time in recent seasons.
“Wearing a watch when you don’t have any playing time this season is crazy,” one Twitter user wrote.
