PSG have today confirmed that tonight’s game against Clermont Foot will be Lionel Messi’s last for the French giants.
After two seasons with the club, Messi will leave the Parc des Princes at the end of the season.
A club statement posted on their social media reads: “After two seasons with PSG, the adventure between Leo Messi and Paris Saint-Germain will come to an end at the end of the 2022-23 campaign.
“The Club wishes Leo, with undeniable emotion, many more achievements for the rest of his career.”
In a press release issued by PSG, Messi said: “I would like to thank the club, the city of Paris and its people for these two years. I wish you all the best for the future.

For his part, Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, CEO of Paris Saint-Germain, spoke of his pride in having had “the greatest footballer of all time” in his ranks.
“I would like to thank Leo Messi for his two seasons in Paris. Seeing a seven-time Ballon d’Or winner in Rouge & Bleu and at the Parc des Princes, winning back-to-back Ligue 1 titles and inspiring our young players has been a pleasure,” did he declare.
“His contribution to Paris Saint-Germain and Ligue 1 cannot be underestimated and we wish Leo and his family all the best for the future.”
It’s unclear where exactly the 35-year-old will go next, although Barcelona will be hoping for a fairytale comeback after being forced to sell the player due to new La Liga spending rules.
In the meantime, he has also been linked with lucrative moves to the United States and Saudi Arabia, with Inter Miami and Al-Hilal keen to acquire his services.
The latter are said to be willing to make an offer that would make the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner the highest-paid footballer of all time.
