A Reddit thread has sprung up of men revealing their biggest dating turnoffs when it comes to being in a relationship.
The thread, titled ‘Guys, what do women do that disgusts you?’, has been upvoted more than 18,700 times, with more than 13,500 comments.
One of the top comments on the thread, which has been upvoted by users more than 12,400 times, reads: “One for when you’re in a relationship: when you’re with friends and they become clearly less nice to you than when you’re in a relationship. “. you’re alone, such as making fun of you and pulling pranks at your expense that they normally wouldn’t. I’ve had it in more than one relationship. Like… what’s that about?’
A second said: “This girl called me ‘sowwie’ trying to be cute, and I instantly lost interest in her.”
Another commented that his biggest pushback was the ‘exaggerated solipsism’. That whole ‘I don’t perceive it that way, therefore the way you perceive it can’t be valid’ mentality.
The popular thread comes after a Pew Research Center survey of more than 6,000 Americans found that 30 percent of the population identified as single.
Another revealed his disgust for people who “loudly empathize with every cause and group on the planet, but treat people in their personal lives like trash.”
And, of course, the common nightmare of “Mentioning your ex constantly” also featured in the biggest rejections for men when it comes to relationships.
‘Denigrating and emasculating men who show emotions. It’s honestly one of the most fucked up things someone can do to another person,” another Reddit user added.
The popular thread follows a Pew Research Center survey of more than 6,000 Americans, which found that 30 percent of the population identified as single.
But when broken down by age group and gender, that number rose to 63 percent among men ages 18 to 29, a whopping 12 percent increase since 2019.
According to the latest report from the US Census Bureau, the average age a man gets married is now 30, a notable increase from just under 24 in 1950, while the average age a woman marries is now 28 years old.
The survey also found that while the average American adult was looking for dates and a relationship less frequently after the pandemic, women represented the least interested group.
According to the data, 49% of adults were looking for a committed romantic relationship or casual dating in 2019, but that number dropped to 42% in 2022.

Experts who weighed in on the rise in loneliness among young men said the trend comes amid changing gender roles in the United States.
Men, specifically, made up 61 percent of those looking for love in 2019, and by 2022, only half of men were looking for relationships.
Women, however, only made up 38 percent of the 2019 figure, and in 2022, just 35 percent of women reported looking to date or commit to a relationship.
Experts who weighed in on the rise in loneliness among young men said the trend comes amid changes in gender roles in the United States since the cultural revolutions of the 1950s and 1960s.
