Donald Trump’s daughter-in-law said she believes voters would support the Republican National Committee (RNC) paying the former president’s mounting legal fees.

Lara Trump, married to Eric Trump, told supporters Wednesday at a campaign event in South Carolina that she thought the idea would gain broad support among Republican voters who view her legal cases as “an attack.”

She added that she was not familiar with the Republican National Committee’s rules on paying Donald Trump’s legal fees, which now exceed $500 million, as well as the millions he has spent on lawyers.

But she said, “That’s why people are angry now.” And they see the attacks against them. They feel it is an attack not only on Donald Trump but on this country. So yeah, I think it’s of great interest to people, absolutely.”

But a spokesperson for former President Trump later told ABC News that “absolutely none” of the RNC funds would be spent on his bills.

Last week, Trump called for the removal of the current leaders of the Republican National Committee and suggested that Lara Trump take their place as co-chair, along with Michael Whatley, the current chair of the North Carolina Republican Party.

She said she would fight “fire with dynamite” if she were named co-chair of the Republican National Committee.

The RNC is the main committee of the Republican Party and is responsible for maintaining and developing the Republican brand, as well as fundraising and electoral strategy.

It is funded by donations from the public and the money will go toward the presidential race once a Republican candidate has been selected.

But Lara said Wednesday that “every penny” of RNC funds should go toward Trump’s re-election and “ensuring we have great candidates to expand our leadership in the House and take back the Senate.”

Lara supported his call for her to take on the role of co-chair of the Republican National Committee on Wednesday, telling reporters that Republican voters will feel more confidence in the Republican National Committee by having a member of the Trump family installed in the leadership.

She said: “I think having someone like me there will be a big help to people.” I can assure you that my loyalty is to my father-in-law and I will ensure that every penny is put to good use.

“We should fight on November 5 for the causes we care about.”

Trump suggested his daughter-in-law take on the Republican National Committee role after becoming frustrated with current chairwoman Ronna McDaniel.

Although McDaniel herself was once chosen by Donald Trump to lead the party’s political machine, the former president had grown tired of her when some of his allies complained about the party’s losses in recent elections.

Trump’s team later walked back his comments, saying that “absolutely none” of the RNC funds would be spent on his legal bills.

Critics also pointed to the party’s finances and the perception that the party did not do enough to focus on voter fraud, which Trump has blamed for his 2020 election loss.

Lara Trump said that if she is named co-chair of the RNC, her loyalty would be to her father-in-law, but she believed the organization would stick to its policy of remaining neutral in the primary elections.

She said: “I don’t know why we would change course now.”

But he drew a different line with the presidential primaries, where former U.N. ambassador Nikki Haley is still running against Trump.

“The Republican National Committee will support whoever the Republican nominee for president is,” Lara Trump said. “I think we all know that’s going to be Donald Trump.”

Trump may not need the RNC’s money anyway, after two MAGA-freak Scientologists, Elena and Grant Cardone, set up a GoFundMe page to help you pay your latest legal bill.

Ardent MAGA supporters created the page hours after the former president was ordered to pay a $355 million fine for lying about his wealth for years.

“I strongly support President Donald Trump in the face of what I consider unfair and unprecedented treatment by certain judicial elements in New York,” Elena Cardone wrote on the page.

Cardone is seeking donations from his supporters to cover the full cost of Trump’s fine. As of Wednesday night, $927,000 had been donated.
