A heartbroken boyfriend has paid tribute to his pageant winner lover after she was killed in a single-vehicle accident.

Melita Cupitt, 22, from Warwick, southwest of Brisbane, was killed at about 7:55pm Friday when her car veered off a country road.

Ms Cupitt suffered serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders.

Her sudden death has sparked a wave of protest in the local community, including her boyfriend, Jake Mathers, who shared a series of emotional photos and videos.

“You have made me so happy and made me want to be a better person,” said Mr. Mathers.

“I really can’t believe you’re gone. I will never forget you, my love, you will always be in my heart. I love you little girl, rest in peace up there.’

A family member told Mr. Mathers that she hoped Mrs. Cupitt would be “another angel watching over him and guiding him through life.”

Ms. Cupitt won the Miss Junior Dalby Showgirl Prize in 2017 and her love of horses is evident on her social media pages. She worked in customer service.

Queensland Police have asked anyone with a dash cam of the accident or moments before to contact detectives.

The crash comes after a 17-year-old boy from the same region was killed in a crash a few days earlier.
