Melissa Suffield has posted an update on her health after undergoing a “mundane endoscopy” for her mystery illness and “drastic” weight loss.
The former EastEnders star, 31, previously told how she has been feeling like “complete shit” and nauseous for three months, with the doctor struggling to find the cause.
Melissa, who played Lucy Beale in the BBC soap for six years until 2010, explained that she has now been referred to a specialist, who will carry out “various tests”.
The actress added that her son River, four, has also been suffering from random vomiting since December.
In a post on her Instagram story, she wrote: “I returned to my GP today to discuss the unremarkable endoscopy results.

The former EastEnders star previously told how she has been feeling like “complete shit” and nauseous for three months, with the doctor struggling to find the cause.
She continued: “I’ve now had a gastro referral, who will be able to look at my gallbladder again, my liver, my stomach, all the hassle, all the different tests and possible diagnosis.”
“So if there is a problem, they will be in the best position to find it.” River was also referred to pediatrics because he had random bouts of vomiting with no clear cause, as well as intermittent diarrhea since we both got sick in December. What still does a number on me, certainly still does a (lesser) number on him too.
“The waiting list for gastros is very long, so I hope to find lasting relief in the meantime.” I am feeling positive about the TCM/acupuncture route, coupled with visceral therapy, and am also hoping to start hypnotherapy to bridge the gap until my talking therapies appointment date arrived.
“I’m pretty sure none of this is due to anxiety, but constantly thinking about it definitely doesn’t help, and it’s not like me at all. So let’s sort it out.
“I was also ordered for a neck ultrasound, just to look at the thyroid one more time and check for enlargement and such.” I think at this point he just wanted to get rid of me lol.
“I sent in a breath test for SIBO today, and I also have a food intolerance and allergy blood test due at some point.
“There’s a lot of things happening, a lot of positive steps, that will hopefully bring me closer to an answer.” And if that’s not a real answer, at least hopefully more lasting relief.
“We’re supposed to be on holiday over Easter weekend, so I really want to make sure that can happen. As a 3 of us, we really deserve it after all the illness and time spent apart. So that’s the next step I’m focusing on.

Previously, Melissa revealed that she lost an unhealthy amount of weight in a very short period of time due to the mystery illness (left before and just after).
Sharing a selfie on her story, she later added: “I was doing so well, so bam nausea.” I hope this passes because I don’t agree with this at all.
Earlier this week, Melissa revealed she lost an unhealthy amount of weight in a very short period of time due to a mystery illness.
She shared her health struggles with fans on Wednesday and talked about how she’s been feeling like “complete shit” and nauseous for three months.
The actress shared two lingerie snaps for a before and after comparison showing the significant weight loss and revealed how it happened.
In a voiceover in the clip, she said: “Do you want to know how I went from this to that in three months? No really not. It was hell. I wouldn’t wish this on my worst enemy. And yet, at least once a day, I am complimented on my weight loss.
“I was told how great I looked and asked how I did it. So you want to know? I will tell you. For the record, I felt like complete shit. I’ve had nausea for three months now for no reason.

“I spent over £1,500 on medication, supplements and tests alone. My mental health was completely tested.
“I’ve been medically enlightened, had to fight for my rights when I was so weak from barely eating and drinking, and been a single parent to a four-year-old.
“This is by far the worst I’ve felt in my entire life and certainly the least healthy I’ve ever felt, but you don’t see that, you see weight loss and you applaud!” Anyone who lost As much weight as I lost in the time I did it was rarely done in a healthy way.
She captioned the post: “Some thoughts.”
Melissa continued: “I’ve been medically enlightened, had to fight to defend myself when I was so weak from barely eating and drinking and being a single parent to a child of four years”
