The former MasterChef Australia judge, 42, took to Instagram on Saturday to reveal the bruises she sustained after taking part in a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) session.

Dressed in her sportswear, Melissa looked solemn as she raised her arm to reveal some painful purple bruises on one of her arms.

“You have to start somewhere! Thanks to everyone who joined me in BJJ this week. Learning involves learning,” he shared in a caption.

Despite the shocking injuries, Melissa flashed a smile in another photo as she posed with two of her friends after trying her hand at mixed martial arts (MMA).

Melissa has been a fan of MMA fighting for a long time and recently accepted a new job as a host for Ultimate Fighting Championships (UFC) Week.

Now, she’s also stepped into the ring to try out the sport herself at Absolute MMA St Kilda, which is “renowned for having some of the best BJJ training in Australia.”

According to the venue’s website, its MMA program has trained several BJJ world champions and its athletes regularly participate in professional competitions.
