Olivia Munn continues to share her cancer journey with her friends and fans, including her most recent heartbreaking discovery.
When she came home from one of her surgeries, her two-year-old son Malcolm told her: ‘Mom, choose [me] above?’ she said People.
And I said, “Oh, I can’t pick you up.” And I leaned down to give him a hug, and then he just sat on my leg and said, “But mom, choose.” [me] above!”
“That was probably one of the hardest things because all you want to do is pick up your baby,” she revealed.
It’s been a long, hard road for Munn, 43, with four surgeries, a double mastectomy and a medically induced menopause. But she has overcome it thanks to her “strong little family” of three, which includes her boyfriend John Mulaney, 41.

Having John around also helped her get through her battle with cancer, which “would have been like climbing an iceberg without him”; Pictured at Vanity Fair’s Oscar party last month.
At the time, it was only three days after her double mastectomy and she was in a lot of pain and mentally “out of it” due to the medications.
“When I woke up, it was very painful and I was really out of it, and I had actually lost a lot of blood and my surgery went from what was supposed to be an 8-hour surgery to a 10-hour surgery because of that blood loss. blood,” Munn told the outlet.
“So the first part is difficult because it is very painful. “You went through a huge surgery and at the time I didn’t really think about what I had lost, because you’re all bandaged up,” she said.
And then she came home and her darling son, who she previously called “magical” in a social media post, was excited to see her and wanted to get as close to his mom as possible.
Another defining moment came when he asked his young son, “Where does Dad work?” And she ran into his office and pointed to his desk. And I said, “Where does mom work?” And she ran to my bed, and that crushed me.’
She added that one of the hardest parts of everything she’s been through is how much time she spends in bed.
But, he assured the outlet: “I’m finding more energy and he’s happy, so that makes me happy.”
Through everything she has been through, she has found joy in her son.
“When I’m with Malcolm, it’s really the only time your brain isn’t thinking about being sick,” Munn explained.
“That was probably one of the hardest things because all you want to do is pick up your baby,” she revealed.
‘I’m very happy with him. I am so happy in life. I mean, he’s the funniest little person,” she gushed.
She continued: ‘He’s very talkative and funny and laughs a lot. And it really puts a lot of things into perspective.
‘Because if my body changes, I’m still his mom. If I have hot flashes, I’m still their mom. If I lose my hair, I’m still his mom. That’s what really matters to me: I can be here for him.

Previously, Olivia described the ‘shock’ she experienced when she saw her body for the first time after a double mastectomy.
The actress underwent a lymph node dissection, a nipple delay procedure and a double mastectomy during her battle with breast cancer, after being diagnosed about a year ago and undergoing all surgeries in the space of 10 months.
The mother-of-one revealed that “nothing” could have prepared her for “what it would look like” in a candid new interview with Peopleadding that she “completely broke down.”
A week after having the double mastectomy, she went for a post-surgical check-up, which was when she saw her body without bandages for the first time with her doctor.
‘It was a shock. It was a shock to my system. I had a really hard time, I remember just looking in the mirror with him and not feeling any emotion, just taking in what he was saying,” she shared.
Munn woke up from her 10-hour double mastectomy on May 24, 2023 and opted for expanders instead of immediate reconstructive surgery to give her body time to heal and rest.
Expanders are silicone implants that are placed under the muscles or tissues of the chest wall to gradually stretch the skin and create space for permanent breast implants.
The Predator star, who shares her two-year-old son Malcolm with her comedian boyfriend Mulaney, said when she met for the first time: “I was shocked.” “It was incredibly difficult.”

“When I got home, I got naked and looked in the mirror again, and that’s when I completely broke down,” she added.
After undergoing reconstructive surgery in the fall, Munn has embraced the changes in her body.
She also began hormone suppression therapy in November to reduce her future risk of cancer, which led to a medically induced menopause, causing hot flashes, hair loss and exhaustion.
‘It’s much better, but it’s not the same, and that’s okay. “Because I’m here and I’m very happy that I had the opportunity to fight,” she said.
