Victoria has been hit by a sudden thunderstorm when heavy rains cause flash flooding, storms and chaos on the roads.
The Weather Bureau issued a severe thunderstorm warning Thursday morning, forecasting heavy rain throughout the day.
It warned that the storm cell moving over Melbourne’s eastern suburbs would bring a test of destruction as it continued to move east.
Flash flooding was seen as storms moved through Melbourne.
One local took to Twitter to warn: ‘Be careful if you’re in Melbourne. Up north, we have rain, thunder, and lightning right now.
“Looks like an indoor day today,” he wrote. It seems to come in waves.

Another wrote that “the rain in Melbourne at the moment is considerable and a bit scary.”
A third person advised people to “be careful on the roads.”
Residents in the Inland East, Southeast, Outland East, and North Local Warning Areas should expect heavy rain throughout the day.
The Met Office warned that severe thunderstorms were detected on weather radar near Dandenong, Glen Waverley and Ringwood.
“These thunderstorms are moving eastward,” the Bureau said.

Forecast to affect Belgrave, Healesville and Yarra Glen at 9:45am and the area east of Pakenham and north-east of Pakenham at 10:15am
“Heavy rains are likely that could lead to flash flooding.”
More than 0.8 inches of rain was recorded in Anakie in the 30 minutes to 7:52 a.m. Thursday.
There is also a more general severe storm warning for the Central, North Central districts and parts of the South West and Northern Country.
