Melbourne shooting: Teen shot dead while sleeping in Endeavor Hills home after gunfire

An urgent manhunt for an armed man is underway after a teenager was shot dead while sleeping at his home in Melbourne’s southeast.
Emergency services were called to Janmara Court’s home in Endeavor Hills on Wednesday around 1:20 a.m. following reports of a shooting.
Detectives believe a number of shots were fired from the road or footpath towards a bedroom window of a home, injuring the teenager as he slept.
The 17-year-old boy was treated at the scene and taken to hospital in stable condition. It is suspected that his life is not in danger.
A quiet suburban street in Melbourne’s southeast remains blocked on Wednesday morning
Other family members who were in the house at the time escaped unharmed.
Shocked neighbors told the Today show they were awakened by the sound of gunshots.
The street has been cordoned off while detectives from the Major Crime Scene Unit investigate the crime scene.
No arrests have been made.
Shots were fired at a home on Janmara Court, Endeavor Hills, shortly after 1 a.m. Wednesday.
Two nights earlier, a terrified family was forced to shelter in a bedroom after several shots were fired at their unit in nearby Dandenong.
Baryalai Rahmanzai was at home with his three young children and pregnant wife when shots were fired at their Burrows Avenue home Sunday evening.
“They were very scared. I told them not to go to school tomorrow because they were just crying that night,” Rahmanzai told Nine News.
Shots were also fired at a nearby unit, hitting doors and a car.
