Melbourne radio presenter Sammy J has launched a racy attack on KIIS FM’s Kyle Sandilands and Jackie ‘O’ Henderson after they lost out in the Melbourne market in the recent poll.

The radio duo came fifth in this month’s poll, while Sammy J saw a ratings boost for his ABC breakfast show.

The popular comedian couldn’t resist showing off his victory with a post that poked fun at the The Kyle and Jackie O Show‘s love for lewd content.

“All these months of asking my ABC listeners if they’ve done anything has really been worth it,” Sammy said in an Instagram story he shared on Monday.

The mischievous joke at the expense of his rivals appears to be a direct reference to a comment made by Sandilands when his radio show made its debut on Melbourne airwaves in April.

During the show, Henderson, 49, introduced herself as “STD-free” before Kyle began pressing her for her opinion on anal sex.

Meanwhile, the 52-year-old introduced himself as an “ex-F-boy, cocaine-snorting moron.”

Meanwhile, Sammy J, whose real name is Samuel Jonathan McMillan, saw a surge in listeners to his ABC Melbourne morning show. He earned an 8.2 per cent audience share in August ratings, up from 7.3 per cent in the last survey.

This comes after the Kyle and Jackie O Show appeared to be struggling to break into the Melbourne radio market.

This week, the latest viewing figures reveal that arch-rivals Jason ‘Jase’ Hawkins and Lauren Phillips have soundly outperformed the Sydney tabloid presenters.

It was an especially sweet victory as the duo The Melbourne breakfast show was axed last year to make way for Kyle Sandilands and Jackie ‘O’ Henderson’s major expansion into the city from Sydney.

Amid the competition, the Jase and Lauren Show, now airing on rival network Nova FM, has been crowned Melbourne’s most-listened-to breakfast show.

The comedy talk show took the coveted number one spot in the results of the newly released fifth radio ratings survey for 2024 by GFK.

Jase and Lauren’s popular show gained 0.3 points and rose to 9.9 percent in audience share, giving it a clear lead over rivals The Kyle and Jackie O Show.

Kyle and Jackie O was significantly lower with a 6.1 per cent market share after its Melbourne premiere on April 29, and was the fifth most listened to breakfast show in the city.

However, Melbourne newcomers Kyle and Jackie O still marked a slight increase in the city’s ratings, from 5.9 to 6.1 per cent.

Fox FM’s Fifi, Fev and Nick came in second with a 9.6 per cent audience share, while Gold FM’s Christian O’Connell came in third.

Despite being beaten in the Melbourne ratings, The Kyle and Jackie O Show once again helped KIIS FM take the top spot as the city’s most listened to radio station.

The popular breakfast show attracted a cumulative weekly audience of 750,000 listeners across Sydney, an increase of more than 50,000 people since the previous survey.

Elsewhere in the ratings, Carrie Bickmore and Tommy Little scored a huge success by ranking as the number one national drive show in Australia.

Hit Network’s Carrie & Tommy earned an 11.1 percent market share in Australia, securing the top spot for the fourth consecutive time in an impressive feat.

The pair said of the results: ‘We are so lucky to have such a hard-working team and amazing listeners who continue to push us to achieve incredible results.

“Thank you Australia for making us number one for the fourth time in a row. We have a blast every evening and love sharing the fun with listeners across the country.”
