Melbourne fashionistas rant about trends they can’t stand, and skinny jeans are all the rage

  • Ralph Smith, from London, has lived in Melbourne for three months.
  • Hates the city’s public transport, the weather, the lack of accommodation and more

Melbourne locals have revealed the fashion trends they’re ‘tired’ of seeing.

Skinny jeans, Nike Panda Dunks and cowboy hats have all been labeled among the ‘worst’ trends.

Fashionistas also criticized puffer jackets, branded monogrammed clothing, straight-cut jeans and winter teddy jackets.

An Ego Expo worker walked through Melbourne’s CBD and asked passers-by for their honest opinions on fashion trends.

‘What’s a fashion trend you don’t like?’ asked the woman.

1) hippie pants

Several revealed a dislike for ‘hippie’ pants that were baggy and embellished with paisley prints.

Patterned pants first emerged in the early 2010s alongside the ‘boho chic’ trend, but have recently made a comeback due to their laid-back approach to fashion.

Harem pants and other shapeless baggy pants with distinctive prints have also been shunned.

“It’s just not for me,” one man said of the hippie pants.

2) skinny jeans

Many thought skinny jeans were “uncomfortable” and “looked awful,” and one man came to be thankful for straight-cut jeans.

“Skinny jeans are so tight and unflattering,” said one fashionista.

3) panda dunks

A man revealed his dislike for Nike’s ‘Low Dunk Panda’ shoes in the clip.

Nike shoes gained popularity in late 2022, but Melburnians seem to be “tired” of seeing them everywhere.

4) Cowboy Style

Many have grown accustomed to wearing cowboy boots, hats, and ascots as part of their daily fashion, but not everyone is a fan.

“I really don’t enjoy all the cowboy hat craziness,” said one woman.
