- Melbourne road rage victims subjected to 15 minutes of hell by another driver
- A simple trip to the gym turned into a terrifying ordeal for Kirsty and Lawrence.
- After following closely and swerving, the assailant pulled out a long chain
A victim of a road rage attack thought she was going to die when another driver leaned out of the window and began hitting her car with a chain.
Kirsty, 27, and her partner Lawrence were nearly run off the road on Thursday by an aggressive Toyota Camry driver as they drove from Roxborough Park to Somerton in north Melbourne.
The bizarre and terrifying experience lasted for over 15 minutes with the man following close behind, testing the brakes and swerving into the couple’s car to try and run them off the road.
Kirsty (pictured) has been so traumatized by her ordeal that she has had difficulty sleeping and had to take time off work to recover from the stress.
“Don’t come here,” the man in the Camry yelled through the open car window at the couple heading to a gym.
He then attached the chain to Kirsty’s car, and the clang was heard on video shot by Lawrence.
Kirsty can be heard asking her partner: ‘Are you serious? Are you serious now?
She said 9News: ‘He started swinging a chain on my car and damaged my passenger side.
“He was yelling at me, threatening to kill me and my partner.”
Lawrence said the man in the Toyota “drove so erratically that he ended up on the other side of the road and continued to chase us.”
In part of the clip, Kirsty is heard telling Lawrence that she doesn’t want to stop.
“I’d rather go to the gym and get fucked up,” he said.
As both cars pulled into the parking lot of Somerton’s gym, CCTV captured the Camry approaching Kirsty.
The other driver (pictured) escalated the attack in a horrendous manner by pulling on a long chain.
When they parked, Lawrence immediately ran to the gym’s reception area and called for help from other patrons and the owner who came out with him.
The gym’s owner, Maythan Sheriffi, said he was surprised. ‘The guy literally had a chain in his hand and it looked like… a long chain.
“He threatened us with the chain,” he said.
Kirsty has been so traumatized by her ordeal that she has had difficulty sleeping and was forced to take time off work to recover from the stress.
“I was terrified that it would happen so locally, close to where I live and close to where I work,” she said.
Police are still searching for the man involved and any witnesses are urged to contact them.
