The Melbourne Cup has been plunged into chaos with leading English racer Onesmoothoperator in doubt for the race that stops a nation.
The Geelong Cup winner with superstar jockey Craig Williams on board was considered one of the best chances to win the cup, on the third betting line.
Onesmoothoperator will now face a final veterinary examination on Saturday in a bid to clear him in racing condition.
Geelong Cup winner Onesmoothoperator failed a vet check on Friday and is doubtful for the Melbourne Cup.

“RV veterinarians today inspected Onesmoothoperator, who suffered a cut to the bulb of his right rear heel,” RV Stewards said Friday.
‘The horse was not passed at this time. It will be inspected again tomorrow (Saturday) after being re-shod.’
Unbeaten Irish three-year-old Jan Brueghel was also ruled out of the cup following a veterinary check, while Busuttin Racing’s Muramasa and Brayden Star were also declared “unfit to race” following their scans.
