“I just heard a woman scream a little. It was a very painful scream. She was holding her head, “a witness told 7News.

According to a witness, the man was able to “hit” the carjacker while in the vehicle.

Shortly thereafter, a hero neighbor joined the fight and the attacker pulled through Mazda’s passenger door, which tore out the center console of the car.

The carjacker was pinned by the neighbor – but managed to escape by running west on Palmerston Street.

The neighbor reportedly tried to stop the attacker by biting his arm at some point.
