Violent carjacker who hit a woman with a hammer in the head before trying to rob two McDonald’s stores is free in Melbourne

A violent carjacker is free in Melbourne after he has hit a woman with a hammer on the head.
The 24-year-old woman had parked her car outside her house on Cardigan Street in Carlton in the interior of Melbourne when she was attacked on Tuesday at 6.50 am
A man approached her and hit her repeatedly with a hammer in the head, splashing blood on her white Mazda 3 and in the gutter before he got into the car.
The woman’s husband heard her scream and hurried outside to help, but was also attacked by the hammer who swung a hammer.

“I just heard a woman scream a little. It was a very painful scream. She was holding her head, “a witness told 7News.
Another witness said, “She said,” Help! Someone is stealing my car. “
According to a witness, the man was able to “hit” the carjacker while in the vehicle.
Shortly thereafter, a hero neighbor joined the fight and the attacker pulled through Mazda’s passenger door, which tore out the center console of the car.
The carjacker was pinned by the neighbor – but managed to escape by running west on Palmerston Street.
The neighbor reportedly tried to stop the attacker by biting his arm at some point.
The man’s wife (photo) heard her screaming for help and ran outside to help, but was also attacked by the hammer who swung a hammer. A neighbor could pull the attacker out of the car and hold him, but he escaped
Despite the violent attack, the woman sustained a non-life-threatening injury and was taken to the hospital for treatment.
The husband suffered a minor injury and was assessed on the spot by paramedics.
The police said the attacker is “African in appearance and is described as tall, with a thin build and short dark hair.”
Reportedly, authorities already have pictures of the carjacker, because he has reportedly committed a number of other crimes in the suburbs of Melbourne.

He was last seen in Carlton after his second attempt at carjacking.
