He went from talking about unity and togetherness to his more usual tone of attacking his enemies, calling Joe Biden “the worst president in American history.”
Trump also called Nancy Pelosi “crazy” and praised fictional psychopath Hannibal Lecter in a rambling 92-minute speech.
He once again falsely claimed Democrats had cheated during the 2020 election he lost, and accused them of launching judicial witch hunts to create a “war planet.”
“The Democratic Party should immediately stop weaponizing the justice system and labeling its political opponents as enemies of democracy, especially since that is not true,” Trump said.
“In fact, I am the one who is saving democracy for the people of our country,” he said.
His speech marked the climax of the four-day Republican convention, during which Trump formally accepted the presidential nomination ahead of the November election.
