A former manny who cared for the two young children of Mel B has branded the America's star Got Talent as the "bad mother number one in the world".
Rusty Updegraff, 59, spoke to DailyMail.com after a damning statement he signed was filed in Los Angeles Superior Court charging Mel with cocaine abuse, heavy drinking and seriously neglecting his children, Angel 11 and Madison. , of seven.
In the presentation Updegraff also states that Mel's fierce appetite for sex means that there is a procession of strangers in the family home.
She says she has slept with dozens of men since she divorced her ex-husband Stephen Belafonte, including her son's piano teacher, a driver, a hairdresser, a "surfer boy" & # 39; and a guy who picked up at SoHo House, whom the kids called 'smelly feet' & # 39;
Updegraff says he fears for the safety of the children of the former girl of the species under his care, stating that he believes they are "at serious risk" and that Mel is "unable" to care for them.
Mel B was back in a courtroom in Los Angeles on Friday where her former nanny accused her of being an unfit mother when she went to drink alcohol at 10 o'clock in the morning, slept with dozens of men while their children were in house and did not attend them properly.
Russell Updegraff, pictured above, was a friend of Mel B and agreed to take care of her children when she was away from home, but claimed that she eventually looked after her daughters Madison, 6, and Angel, 11, daily.
Mel B is accused of absenting herself from her home and continuing to drink, leaving her daughters Madison, age six, and Angel, age 11, at home with Updegraff, Mel and children in the photo in 2016
"I am presenting this statement to alert the Court that children need immediate help and protection because their safety and well-being are at serious risk," he said.
Updegraff states that Mel's drink was so bad that he started drinking beer and wine at 10 a.m. M., Sometimes before, before moving to the strongest liquor such as vodka, tequila or gin, until you "faint completely".
According to court documents, he said that the star becomes "bad" and "belligerent" after getting drunk, defames his words and speaks incoherently.
Updegraff said that Mel often sent him to the local market and demanded that he buy 12 bottles of wine, two bottles of vodka and one or two 12 packs of beer.
"All that would disappear in 4-5 days," he added in his statement.
"Melanie's behavior got so bad, I begged her not to drink tequila anymore. I told her that she became very evil and angry and that she drank tequila. "
Earlier this month, Mel said he was entering a clinic after having problems with alcohol and post-traumatic stress disorder.
She told the Sun on Sunday: "The last six months have been incredibly difficult for me. "I have been working with a writer in my book, Brutally Honest, and it has been incredibly traumatic to relive an emotionally abusive relationship and face so many massive problems in my life.
"I'm being very honest about drinking to numb my pain, but that's just the way many people are masking what's really going on."
Last September, her former Belafonte, who separated from Mel in March of last year, accused her of being hooked on cocaine and alcohol. He said he agreed to take a daily dose of the Antabuse prescription drug to fight alcoholism.
For a long time, Mel asked Updegraff, a longtime friend, to help him take care of the children in February of this year, and agreed to do it part time.
But when the star's nanny went out & # 39; Suddenly and Mel fired her walker who also helped with the school career, Updegraff began to help more.
Soon she was at Mel's house 24/7 feeding and taking care of her two daughters, Madison, of six and Angel, of 11, doing school, shopping and running errands for Mel.
He said that Mel travels twice a month and that he's only been worried & # 39; of the girls for seven days, 10 days and 14 days when Mel was not at home.
Updegraff said the star "NEVER" registered on the girls while he was away and never came home on the dates he said he would return.
He even accused the star of inventing lies around "bad weather" and "no flights were coming out" as excuses to stay away for a few more days.
Updegraff said that recently, when Mel flew out of London, instead of returning home to see Angel, Mel went directly to his friend Gary's apartment.
Mel B combined a leopard print coat and matching heels with a strapless red jumpsuit on Friday, in the visibly upset photo when she left the court where Updegraff's claims were shared.
Former Mel B member Stephen Belafonte also appeared before the court on Friday claiming that the singer should not have custody of her children due to her alleged excessive alcohol consumption.
Updegraff said he brought so many men home that his children even made nicknames for their partners and that they sometimes entered Mel B and their guests had sex.
He said: Melanie showed up 6 hours later after Gary had to come help her use her key to enter her building.
"She had her last boyfriend with her and she had been drinking and could not use the key."
He added: "I've also been concerned about children when Melanie is not working and she's at home because Melanie is unable to care for the children."
In the presentation, Updegraff says that, due to Mel's drinking, she also becomes volatile with her children, often attacks and sometimes becomes physical.
He said Mel would start screaming with his 11-year-old daughter Angel, and said: "As a result, Madison often gets upset and cries trying to defend her sister or escaping to her room to protect herself from her mother's drunkenness" . behavior. It's as if the children walked with egg shells around their mother. "
He added that Mel needs professional help & # 39;
Updegraff accuses Mel of constantly bringing strange men into the house to have sex, and then leaves her children unsupervised with men.
One of these men was the piano teacher of the children, according to court documents.
On one occasion, a man identified as & # 39; Frenchie & # 39; He went swimming with his daughter Madison and then took her upstairs and tried to shower her, before Updegraff intervened.
When Updegraff told Mel about the incident, she discarded it and told him, "That's what the French people are like," according to the condemning document.
"I was surprised that Melanie was so insensitive when it came to Madison's safety," says Rusty.
"At other times, Melanie has often asked me and my friends (in my presence) if we can" get "all the guys to be with.
"On another occasion, I received a text message from Melanie at 9:26 a.m., indicating that she had just woken up and did not know where the children were and that the children and the French boy were gone."
A copy of that text message was sent to the Superior Court of Los Angeles.
Randy said that Mel brings so many men around – he and the children even invent funny nicknames for men – like 'smelly feet'.
"The children are literally exposed to literal strangers that Melanie chooses to bring home to have one-night or short-term relationships with constants … Children and / or identify these men with my nicknames or their characteristics.
"There was someone from Casa Soho that we called" Smelly Feet ", another one called" Danny ", another nicknamed" Frenchie ", the Surfer Kid, another named Taylor, another hairdresser, a singer, a conductor and the piano teacher of the girls just to name a few. & # 39;
Angel and Madison often end up walking towards their mother while having sex, according to court documents, and Updegraff claims that it was becoming a problem. He tried to teach Madison to sleep in his bed, even establishing a "reward system". to encourage her not to leave her room.
However, Mel would ignore Updegraff's effort and encourage the six-year-old to sleep in her bed, but then attack Updegraff irregularly if the young girl approached her during sex.
He states: "At Melanie's whim, Melanie will often break the rule and have Madison sleep with her in bed." Melanie sleeps on the bed naked.
"Because of this, Melanie has often had mishaps when children enter her room while she is intimate with someone.
"This is one of the main reasons why I wanted Madison to learn to sleep in his own bed.
"Therefore, Madison is confused about the rule of sleeping in her own bed.
This becomes even more problematic when Melanie decides to take someone to her bed, then she has to wake Madison up in the middle of her sleep, and then take her to my room or to the Phoenix room if Phoenix is at home.
Madison, then while half asleep gets upset and keeps trying to go back to Melanie's room where Melanie literally leans chairs against the door to keep Madison out or tells me to take Madison so she can spend the night with whoever.
"Melanie has reprimanded me a couple of times because Madison came in or almost came in while I was in the middle of having sex."
Even Mel B's family and friends have witnessed his wild behavior, according to text messages with Updegraff.
Updegraff shared text messages she received from Charlotte, Mel B's best friend, who tried to organize an intervention with the singer, which lists her numerous classmates
The former nanny also shared a text message with the court that she received from Mel B's mother, Andrea & # 39; Andie & # 39; Brown, begging for your help with the children.
The Updegraff screenshots provided also reveal a huge tower of tequila boxes
Explaining the texts he received from Mel's best friend, Charlotte and Mel's mother, Andie, Updegraff told DailyMail.com: "Charlotte is Mel's best friend in England and flew to Los Angeles last April to help Mel and do an intervention after listening to Mel Andie's mother how Mel was acting so crazy and drunk all the time.
"But Charlotte and Mel ended up having a big fight and they flew to their house in England, and then she sent me the" ghetto "texts about all the men Mel was sleeping with:" Russia, Ryan, Tyler, Danny, etc. "
& # 39; The photo shows empty boxes of tequila bottles stacked in the house of Mel B.
"She's out of control with her drink," Updegraff added.
Updegraff continues to attack Mel's parenting skills in the documents, saying that in the past seven months she has only bathed Madison and prepared her for bed, and that she does not spend more time with the children.
The rest of the time, according to court documents, the children are under the care of another person or defend themselves.
In a heartbreaking way, she says "there is no sense of family in Melanie's house" and accuses the star of "using" her children to take pictures.
"Melanie does not cook for children, she does not read them," says Updegraff.
"The girls do not have time to watch television with their mother or spend time sobriety with her.
& # 39; The tutors are there to help with the homework and I also helped. The piano teacher comes twice a week. Apart from that, the children are in the care of another person … The children try to fend for themselves when I'm not around.
"They know how to grab a bag of potato chips or make Ramen soup from a prepackaged Ramen bag." Sadly, the only time Melanie cares about children or pays attention is to use the children as accessories or photographs.
The Spice Girls star said part of the reason she sought treatment was because of her "intense" relationship with her ex-husband Stephen Belafonte (pictured in April 2016).
Mel B and Belafonte finalized their divorce in 2017. Belafonte is seeking temporary custody of the daughters of Mel B Phoenix, 19, Angel, 11, and Madison, aged six (pictured in January 2015)
At other times, Mel has gone on vacation even when the children are sick and once even forced Updegraff to leave Madison, who was sick, alone and visiting a friend's house, according to court documents.
On another occasion, Mel asked Updegraff to take the children so that she could swim naked and do whatever she wanted in the house & # 39;
He often lashed out erratically against Updegraff, which led him to believe that he was suffering from mental problems.
Updegraff said he quit his job earlier this month because of Mel's "erratic behavior" and his "insulting and abusive behavior" toward him.
He said that she also disrespected him as the child's caregiver.
But mainly he said he now fears for the & # 39; security & # 39; of Mel and Belafonte's young daughter, Madison, who will turn seven on Sunday, adding that the only motivation for him to present his statement is to protect Madison and ensure her welfare, safety and well-being. Be completely protected that children will not have the necessary support system they need.
Updegraff ends her explosive testimony claiming that the former Spice Girl is not in a position to have custody of the children, and he fears that something & # 39; bad & # 39; occur if they are left in your care.
"Apart from her obvious addiction to alcohol and her addiction to multiple partners that she gives to children, I really believe that Melanie is mentally and / or psychologically unstable and suffers from some kind of mental health problem." I do not think the children are safe. in their custody without supervision or monitoring, "the statement ends.
"I do not think it's in the children's best interest to leave her under his care.
"Until Melanie gets the help she needs, the children must be protected." I fear that something bad may happen to the children while Melanie continues to drink to the point of fainting and not being able to care for the children and with random strangers who enter and they leave the house, the children's safety and well-being are at serious risk. "
Belafonte's attorney, Grace Jamra, asked Mel to undergo random drug and alcohol testing, as well as a "custody assessment" of her and the daughter of her ex-husband, Madison, as a result of the conviction. Updegraff
"We're not here because we want to be, we're here to protect Madison," Jamra told Judge Mark Juhas.
Judge Juhas adjourned the session to allow both parties to consult on who would do the drug and alcohol tests and the custody evaluation.
Mel arrived at the LA Superior Court with red pants, tank top and leopard-skin heels.
During a break he approached the press and showed a journalist a pink bottle that he was drinking and joked: "By the way, this is coffee I'm drinking," which caused a giggle in the court.
After the hearing, Rusty told DailyMail.com: "All he wanted was severance pay and Mel refused. But it was not about money, for a long time I took care of Madison for free.
"My only concern is for her, if it were not for the terrible effect that Melanie is having on the beauty and scandalous behavior of this beautiful girl, Mel is the number one bad mother in the world."
