Megyn Kelly lashes out at Joe Biden inviting his son to state dinner

Date:

Megyn Kelly lambasted President Joe Biden for inviting his son Hunter to a White House state dinner and slammed ‘The View’ co-host Ana Navarro’s “ridiculous” defense of the relationship between Joe and Hunter.

Kelly was joined by the hosts of the Ruthless podcast – Comfortably Smug, Josh Holmes, Michael Duncan and John Ashbrook – on Tuesday to discuss the blowback that followed Hunter’s attendance at the state dinner and the “embarrassing” defense of Navarro.

The former Fox News host aired a clip of Navarro defending Joe Biden on Friday’s episode of ‘The View,’ where she claimed the president was inviting his criminal child”just shows his love for his son.

Responding to Navarro’s comments, Kelly said: ‘YYou can love your child while acknowledging that it would be inappropriate, given the circumstances, to bring him to something that is not your private party.

“It’s not your private party, Joe Biden,” Kelly emphatically repeated. “It’s our party. It’s the United States. This is America, and Hunter Biden shouldn’t have been there!

The event in question was last week’s state dinner at the White House for Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Duncan said facetiously that Joe Biden bringing Hunter to the state dinner would be like Bill Clinton bringing Monica Lewinsky, at which Kelly and the “Ruthless” crew laughed.

On a more serious note, Duncan added, “It’s not about hypocrisy…it’s about hierarchy…They’re laughing at us.”

“He is a guy who is accused of influence peddling in foreign countries and taking money from China, taking money from this corrupt Ukrainian gas company…”, he said. he adds.

“And he shows up at official events with foreign dignitaries in front of us – they laugh at us.”

Holmes chimed in, also pointing out the satirical element of inviting a man to a White House state dinner who is addicted to crack cocaine, involved with prostitutes and has now pleaded guilty to tax-related offenses because he is a relative.

‘Sdealing with Ukrainian natural gas boards, smoking crack with prostitutes and throwing weapons in school zones… Are you kidding? Holmes said.

‘You can’t say simultaneously that my son is deeply troubled and has all sorts of things going on in his life. It’s unfortunate and, you know, it’s unfortunately his problem,” he added.

“…then have him show up in Beijing…appear on the Ukrainian stage during your vice presidency, and then when you become president, he’ll be the belle of the ball at every state dinner!”

The “Ruthless” co-host added that not all addicts start selling influence to the Chinese.

Just days after agreeing to plead guilty to tax-related offenses, Hunter Biden attended a White House state dinner Thursday night hosted for Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The president’s son was among hundreds of distinguished guests who attended the dinner for the Prime Minister of India on Thursday evening.

Criticism and support for the Bidens followed.

In a clip aired on The View Friday, press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre repeatedly refused to answer reporters’ questions about Hunter’s attendance at the state dinner.

Navarro became emotional after the clip as she spoke about the president’s relationship with her troubled son.

“The story of Hunter Biden, the scandal, the this, the that – it’s also the story of a father’s love, and Joe Biden has never and will never abandon his son Hunter, and will never treat it less than,” Navarro said. .

“He is first of all a father; take it or leave it. It’s who he is, it’s part of his heart,” she continued. “There were 380 people at that dinner. It’s not like Hunter is sitting on Merrick Garland’s lap. It was a bunch of people…and I think the reason he was able to get out of addiction is because Joe Biden fully embraced it the entire time.

Sunny Hostin also defended the father and son duo, adding, “What seems to get lost in all this talk about Hunter Biden is his addiction.” He’s a drug addict. He’s had this addiction for many years, and to various things, and I wonder where our compassion is.

“I mean people talk about ‘well, that’s nepotism,’ and maybe it is, and I hate nepotism. I think things should be earned and not given, but no one wants to talk about the fact that Ivanka [Trump] got, you know, three Chinese patents after her dinner with Chinese President Xi at Mar-a-Lago,” she claimed.

She added that the scandal is actually “a father trying to keep his son, who suffers from addiction, close”.

Co-host Sara Haines said she didn’t blame the Bidens for inviting their son – but said Hunter should have “abstained on this one”.

“What I take issue with is that he should have sat down, if we’re being honest… he’s just been charged with a felony charge, misdemeanors, you’re going to a dinner party your dad is at. “Foreground, he’s trying to campaign… like, sit down. Sit down at home just a minute. Just sit down. This is about your dad and your family,” he said. she stated.

Alyssa Farah Griffin added, “If I was charged with a felony and a misdemeanor, I wouldn’t be at a state dinner with the most powerful people on the planet.”

‘So I think the optics were bad, and I guarantee Biden’s staffers were trying to talk him out of being there, and Merrick Garland, who tried to stay above the fray in this area, and is now seen spawning with them.

Last week, the president’s son agreed to plead guilty to federal misdemeanor tax charges and a firearms charge that won’t see him face jail time.

When Jean-Pierre was asked about Hunter’s attendance at dinner, she said, “I’m just not going to get into discussions, personal family discussions.”

On Thursday, he mingled with black-tie guests at a state banquet for Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Jean-Pierre was asked if it was common for people to be invited to the White House so soon after securing a plea deal.

“It’s his son. He is a member of the family,” she said.

“It is not uncommon for family members to attend events at the White House.

“We could look at past presidents. I’m sure.

“So it’s not uncommon…as far as anything Hunter-related, I’m just not going to answer that from here.”
