Megyn Kelly criticized Drew Barrymore’s bizarre interview with Vice President Kamala Harris, calling the embarrassing segment “degrading” and that the Secret Service should have intervened.

The vice president joined Barrymore for an episode of her daytime talk show, which aired Monday. Throughout the interview, the two discussed many topics, including Harris’ polarizing laugh.

During an embarrassing moment, Barrymore slid uncomfortably close to Harris on the couch and pleaded with the vice president to become a “mother” to all of America: “But in our country, we need you to be the country’s Momala.”

Kelly criticized the awkward interaction on ‘The Megyn Kelly Show’ on Monday, commenting on how inappropriate she felt it was for someone to get so close to the second-in-command.

“I feel like the Secret Service is probably like ‘a little further away, ma’am.’ And the ‘Ah!’ when (Harris) says that, she has her mother’s laugh,” Kelly said.

Megyn Kelly criticized the bizarre interview, calling the embarrassing segment “degrading” and saying the Secret Service should have intervened.

‘My God, it’s so degrading. Can you imagine anyone speaking to Donald Trump that way? He is just degrading. It demeans both the presenter and the guest. Drew Barrymore isn’t very good at this.

During the interview, Barrymore leaned forward and held Harris’s hands as the audience applauded. The actress stared into the vice president’s eyes with a soulful look, while Harris seemed to feel a little uncomfortable.

At another point in the interview, Harris defended her laughter and suggested that those who mock her are exhibiting a form of sexism.

“You were asking me before what it means to be the first woman (vice president),” Harris told Barrymore.

“And you know, it’s funny because people still have to get used to this, right?”

Harris then claimed that an example of persistent misogyny in which the public adjusts to having a female vice president is when people pay more attention to her laughter or mannerisms.

‘I mean, my staff, for example, sometimes show me little things that just amuse me. Apparently some people love to talk about the way I laugh,” Harris said.

Barrymore, squeezing the vice president onto the couch, said enthusiastically, “Oh, yes.” OK. I love your laugh.’

Kelly criticized that the interview did not offer anything substantial to viewers.

“It’s classic for Kamala Harris to try to offer false depths with her fake affection when she’s not saying anything,” Kelly said.

“She offers her regular air sandwich and what’s worse, Drew Barrymore leans in, she must be three inches away from Kamala Harris.”

Harris detailed to Barrymore that she laughed at her mother and addressed the criticism she received about it.

“I have my mother’s laugh and I grew up around a group of women, in particular, who laughed from the belly,” Harris said. They laughed, sat in the kitchen and drank coffee, telling great stories with great laughs.’

“You know, I’ll never be like that,” Harris said before faking a delicate laugh into his hand.

The Democrat continued her story: ‘It’s just that I’m not that person. And I think it’s very important that we remind each other and the younger ones: don’t limit yourself to other people’s perception of what this is like and who you should act, how you should act to be right.’

‘It’s really important. It’s, it’s important,’ she concluded.

Barrymore, known for her empathetic interview style, responded, “I love your laugh and I love that message.”

Kelly acknowledged that the vice president’s laugh is strange, but said Harris’ laugh and rhythm are part of the vice president’s personality.

‘Kamala Harris’s laugh mockery: It’s a little strange, yes. But it’s because she unfolds at very strange times. She uses it…perhaps as a deflection or a protection mechanism. She laughs at the wrong times,” Kelly said.

“It’s like we love the show Modern Family, and Clair Dunphy, the lead actress, always laughs when someone tells her there’s been a death in the family. She can’t help but smile, laugh at it: that’s Kamala Harris. Her laughter is not appropriate.

‘No one cares that their mother laughed. “What you’re seeing up there is entirely performative on the part of both women,” Kelly said.
