Meghan McCain stormed Kari Lake as an 'underdog' after Decision Desk HQ projected she failed to beat Rep. Ruben Gallego in his Senate race in Arizona.

Meghan McCain mercilessly lashed out at Kari Lake as a “loser” after projections showed her failing in her US Senate bid.

While the Arizona Senate race has not officially been called, Decision Desk HQ has Rep. Rubén Gallego (D-Ariz.) winning against the Republican candidate.

In response, McCain posted on X a meme of Lake behind the wheel of a vehicle and the message: “Come in loser, come on losers.”

Shortly before 9:00 pm on Saturday, the election results reporting website made the projected call. As of Sunday morning, the race was between 49.7 percent and 48.2 percent in favor of Rep. Gallego.

The Associated Press has not yet rated the race one way or the other.

However, on Saturday night the AP called the presidential race in Arizona for Donald Trump with a 6.2 percent lead over Vice President Kamala Harris. It was the last state called for the 2024 presidential elections.

Lake’s loss in the Arizona Senate race follows his failure in the 2022 Arizona gubernatorial election, which he lost to now-Gov. Katie Hobbs.

The former television host was facing Gallego to win the vacant seat after Democratic-turned-independent Sen. Kyrsten Sinema decided not to run for re-election for a second term once she changed her party affiliation in 2022.

Democrats held their breath in the days after the 2024 election as they tried to maintain their slim majority in the Senate. But even before the Arizona race was called, Democrats could do nothing to reverse the seats Republicans gained this year.

With 53 seats as of Sunday afternoon, Republicans will occupy the upper house and the White House.

The results in the lower house are still up in the air.

The Associated Press has not yet called the Arizona Senate race, but other election tracking outlets have projected Rep. Gallego as the winner.
