Meghan Markle’s former co-star has revealed she secretly met with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, after the Suits cast members claimed they no longer had a way to contact the royals.

Wendell Pierce, 60, who played Meghan’s father in Suits, revealed at the 2024 Tony Awards in New York that he is still in contact with the duchess.

speaking to PEOPLE magazineThe star, who has been nominated for several Tony Awards and won one in 2012, explained how she met the royal couple last year.

He told the publication: “When (Meghan) came to town, she received an award last year, she had the opportunity to say hello and wish her and Prince Harry well and wish the children well.”

“They looked very in love and were very happy, so that’s the most important thing.”

Although Wendell did not specify when he met Meghan and Harry, the couple was in New York in May 2023 to accept the Duchess’ ‘Women of Vision’ award.

speaking to MY! News In April, Wendell revealed what he said about his most recent encounter with the couple: “It was cool to see them because there’s this public persona, and then it’s the two of them that I know.”

Wendell’s comments come after some of Meghan’s other co-stars claimed they “don’t have her number anymore.”

In January, Gabriel Macht, Sarah Rafferty, Patrick J. Adams and Gina Torres reunited on the Golden Globes red carpet, sparking rumors of a reboot of the show.

When asked if any of them had contacted Meghan, Gina, who played Jessica Pearson, said they no longer had a direct way to contact the duchess.

One interviewer asked: “Who texted Meghan and said, ‘You have to come to the Golden Globes, Meghan Markle’?”

Gina replied: ‘We don’t have his number. We just don’t do it. She will see it. She will look. She’ll be happy we’re here.

At the time, it was reported that Meghan was unable to attend the awards ceremony due to a “prior engagement.”

In May 2018, all of Meghan Markle’s co-stars were invited to her fairytale wedding to Prince Harry in Windsor, with the likes of Patrick J. Adams, Gina Torres and Sarah Rafferty mingling with celebrities and royals. Although Wendell Pierce was invited, the star previously said he “couldn’t” attend.

speaking to MY! News In April, Wendell revealed the advice he gave Meghan after she left the series to move to the UK.

Recalling their last day together on set, Wendell explained: “I told her, ‘Meghan, your life is going to be a whirlwind. “You’re going to be in this bubble.”

‘I just want you to remember that no matter what happens, you always have friends. And I hope you count me in that number.’

In March 2021, Wendell criticized Meghan Markle and Prince Harry for giving a tell-all interview to Oprah Winfrey when the world was dying.

He told radio station LBC: ‘Today 3,000 people are going to die in the United States from COVID. A couple of hundred people are going to die, even at this hour, in the UK.

Wendell added: ‘It was quite insensitive and offensive that we are all complicit in this kind of palace… gossip in the midst of so much death. I think it’s insignificant.”

When asked who he included in this criticism, he said “everyone,” including Oprah, US network CBS, ITV, Prince Harry and Meghan, and the Palace.
