The Duke and Duchess of Sussex spent Valentine’s Day in Whistler, Canada, promoting the upcoming Invictus Games while being followed by a film crew.

Former actress Meghan Markle, 42, seemed to enjoy the spotlight, according to a body language expert.

But in contrast, her husband Prince Harry, 39, seemed like “a slightly problematic camera actor,” Judi James told FEMAIL.

The beaming couple walked hand in hand as they arrived at the picturesque Whistler ski resort in British Columbia for a two-day trip from California to highlight next year’s event, the first time it will involve winter sports.

Harry tried out one of the competitors’ sit-skis and the pair were seen leaning in to talk to athletes competing in the games, while a camera crew followed closely.

Speaking about the couple’s behaviour, Judi said: ‘The couple arrived with announcing gestures in their body language that indicated energy, positivity, enthusiasm and joy.

‘Their handshake registered togetherness, as did Meghan’s poses with her hand raised close to her face to show that her engagement ring was firmly on her finger.

“Meghan seemed to take a very active and sometimes dominant role here, walking in front of Harry or striding slightly ahead when they walked together.

‘Harry’s own smile seemed a little less self-assured than his wife’s, and only turned into a congruent smile of genuine happiness as he began to join in on the sporting action.

“He still looks like a slightly worried camera actor, walking with his head down and one hand stuck in his jeans pocket as Meghan stepped confidently into the spotlight.

“Overall it was a very carefree performance in which Meghan proved once again that she is part of the Invictus family and is as fully immersed as her husband now is.”

The body language expert added that Meghan seemed to prepare herself at times to ensure good angles for the film crew.

“Even her parting gesture at the end seems to be directed directly at the camera, while some of her poses, such as her squatting position while looking at Harry sitting in his ski seat, seem to help with the framing when it comes to a good shot. “They’re both together,” Judi said.

Meghan made a stunning appearance at the ski resort yesterday, thanks to the reappearance of her £140,000 engagement ring.

The duchess has not been seen publicly wearing the sparkling sash, made up of a huge diamond from Botswana and two from Princess DianaCollection of, from May 2023.

Her ring was conspicuously absent from recent events, such as the premiere of the Bob Marley biopic One Love in Kingston, Jamaica, last month, and her attendance at Variety’s Power of Women gala in November 2023.

According to people magazine The reason behind the ring’s long hiatus is that a setting came loose and needed to be repaired.

Prince Harry proposed to Meghan in November 2017, with the ring made up of a solid yellow gold band set with three diamonds, but Meghan has made several adjustments to the design since then.

While hitting the slopes with Prince Harry (and his cameraman) and having fun skiing, the Duchess’ dazzling diamond complemented a chic winter outfit.

She wore a $295 cream quilted Calvin Klein coat over a $695 cashmere sweater from CO.

Ensuring her feet were toasty in Whistler’s frigid temperatures, the Duchess wore a pair of furry Sorel boots, curiously named the Joan of the Arctic design.

However, the Duchess’ stunning stone was the star of the outfit and instead of covering her hands with a pair of sturdy gloves, she proudly showed off the ring on her finger.

It is the first time mother-of-two Meghan has been seen wearing the band for around nine months amid reports it was being fixed.

The Duke and Duchess’ trip comes as they are currently embroiled in a dispute over their rebranded ‘royal’ website Sussex.com – complete with Meghan’s coat of arms – which critics claim is a breach of their promise to the late Queen when bitterly abandoning frontline royal duties.

Sources now say the couple did not consult palace officials about the use of their Sussex titles.

A source close to the couple defended the use of their royal titles, saying: “Prince Harry and Meghan are the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. That’s a fact. It’s their last and last name.

Yesterday, Meghan was forced to release a statement defending the graphic design company that created the couple’s new website. Harry has also faced criticism for the short time he spent in the UK following his father’s cancer diagnosis.

Harry and Meghan exited the gondola at Whistler’s Blackcomb Mountain shortly after 2:30 p.m. local time and met three groups of adaptive skiers: a sitting alpine skier, a standing skier, and a group of visually impaired athletes.

Alex Cairns, a sit skier from Canada, was the first to meet the Sussexes and demonstrated the sport to them, arriving at the base of the slope to Harry’s applause.

The Whistler games will be the first time Invictus has presented winter sports.

The couple arrived in the country on Tuesday and were photographed by DailyMail.com landing in Vancouver shortly after noon Pacific time after a two-hour flight from Santa Barbara, the closest airport to their home in Montecito.

Their arrival came on the same day that Meghan announced she had signed a new podcast deal with Lemonada Media after she and Harry parted ways with Spotify.

A convoy of cars picked up the famous duo and took them to Whistler, where they will be on Wednesday and Thursday before returning to Vancouver for an event in the Crystal City on Friday.

The couple are then expected to travel home to California on Friday afternoon to join their children Archie, five, and Lilibet, two.
