Meghan Markle sets the record straight on reality show with Prince Harry

Meghan Markle corrects the record on Prince Harry’s reality show. The Duchess was insistent that she won’t appear on a reality series and quit watching Real Housewives when her own life became more dramatic.

Not long until Meghan Markle’s and Prince Harry’s new series land on Netflix. However, the Duchess-of-Sudan has already set the record straight about what type of series viewers should expect.

During a conversation with Andy Cohen on the Archetypes podcast, the ex-actress made a casual comment about her appearance in The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.

Meghan was asked by the Real Housewives executive producers if she watches Housewives TV. It follows the lives wealthy women in different parts of the US and UK. He joked about building a show around Meghan.

The Duchess said: “I stopped watching the Housewives when my life had its own level of drama that I stopped craving…”, with Andy injecting, “other people’s”, and Meghan agreed.

According to the TV producer, many had asked him if Meghan would consider staring in the hit series. He explained that Meghan had recently moved to Los Angeles. She Jokingly, she said: “So you mean really that this is my audition to the Real Housewives of Montecito?”

He then replied that he didn’t need to audition and that the show would be built around him. Meghan quickly stated that “there wouldn’t be any reality show,” which indicates her upcoming Netflix reality show won’t be a fly by night show.

Prince Harry and Meghan are expected to release their highly-anticipated series on December 8. The eye-opening documentary – originally titled Chapters – focuses on Meghan and Harry’s enduring love story. In 2020, the couple signed a multi-year $100 million deal with the streaming giant.

Meghan and Harry shared their thoughts at the time: “Our focus is on creating content that informs and also gives hope.” Inspirational family programming is an important aspect of our new parenting. [Netflix’s] Unprecedented reach will allow us to share important content that unlocks action.

In a recent interview with Variety magazine the Duchess stated that it was nice to have someone trust with our story, a veteran director whose work has long been admired. Even if it doesn’t follow the original plan. It’s not why they’re telling it. We trust our story to someone else and it will be told through their lens.

While the royals remain tight-lipped on the details of their Netflix project but Meghan and Harry confirmed that their docuseries would primarily focus on their love story.

The Cut spoke with the mother-of-two to reveal that it will include: “The part of my life that I haven’t been allowed to share, and people haven’t been enabled to see, is our relationship story.”
